Pinus tabulaeformis and Pinus elliottii are major tree specieses for afforestation and commodity, they occupy an important place in development of forestry in China. The study on the asexual propagation technology has great significance to Pinus tabulaeformis and Pinus elliottii in order to adapt and meet the requirements of improving breed of afforestation. This paper uses Pinus tabulaeformis, Pinus elliottii as the materials to study the techniques of the cutting, the cutting of needle fascicles and the genetic characteristics of sprout shoots.(1)The survival ratio of cuttage of Pinus tabulaeformis and Pinus elliottii had a positive correlation with the quality of maternal plants, namely as the quality of maternal plants increased, so did the survival ratio, mean contents of total soluble sugar and mean dehydrogenase activity of cuttings. The cuttings of high quality maternal plants had a better survival ratio, because these cuttings were strong and young, the parenchymalous cells were well developed, the contents of total soluble sugar was abundant and dehydrogenase activity of cuttings was strong. Therefore, not only paying attention to the maternal plants and branches, but also the quality of maternal plants.(2)The effect of stages of leaf collection and cultural liquids on survival and rooting of needle fascicles is greater, but it was no significant effect to the different treatments of needle fascicles. So, the optimal combination of Pinus tabulaeformis was the needle fascicsles with cortex or without had been collected on November 11th, which had been treated by 0.5% sugar solution or 1/4MS+0.5mg/LNAA+0.2mg/LIBA+1% sugar solution or 1/4MS+0.1mg/L NAA+0.1mg/LIBA+1% sugar solution. And the optimal combination of Pinus elliottii was the the needle fascicsles with cortex or without had been collected on November 11th, which had been treated by 1/4MS+0.1mg/LNAA+0.1mg/LIBA+1% sugar solution, and up to June 6th, a few needle fascicles had rooted, some needle fascicles had the sign of rooting, if further culture, more needle fascicles would root.(3)Comparison of shoot cuttings through cutting in two different cutting media, perlite and sand:soil(2:1). The results showed that the survival ratio of the cuttings of Pinus tabulaeformis in the perlite was 76.7%, but in the sand soil, the survival ratio was 58.3%. Therefore, the perlite was better than sand soil to the survival of cuttings.(4)Generating characteristics of sprout shoots had no significant difference after using different pruning to strong maternal plants and general maternal plants. Removing 1/3 of the above ground part of the strong maternal plants was the best, sprout shoots were the most and had a highest quality and a high utilization Ratio; After using different pruning to the general maternal plants, the quality of sprout shoots were generally low, even it had influenced the survival of maternal plants. It indicated that the impact of the quality of maternal plants on generating sprout shoots was significant. Meanwhile, it also indicated there has great difference between the broadleaved tree specieses and the coniferous specieses, such as Pinus tabula formis.
