Since 1995, pine wilt disease was found in Mingguang city, Dingyuan county andGuandian general forestry centre early or late, adjacent to Fengyang county, the epidemicsituation of pine wilt disease almost encircled Fengyang county. There is one hundred andeighty-five thousand mu pine stands in Fengyang. Pines are main forestry resources andenvironment principal part of the whole county, and the existent foundation of forestry centres. In Fengyang, the annual rainfall is 1200mm, and annual average temperature is 15.8℃, whereis very fittable for Bursaphelenchus xylophilus and vector, Monochamus alternatus's growthand propagation. And there is great possibility that the pine wilt disease from adjacent countyand city will be transmitted to Fengyang at any time. Thus Fengyang forestry bureau tookintegrated management measures to avoid Bursaphelenchus xylophilus inbreak by natural wayor human activity.(1) Pine wilt disease is a one of the most serious destructive disease to the pines, and it isvery difficult to prevent its inbreak. Although pine wilt disease has been found in othercounties adjacent to Fengyang for eleven years, it can not be transmitted because of leadersthinking much of it and taking a serial of scientific and reasonable ways to prevent it.(2) Of all integrated management measures to prevent Bursaphelenchus xylophilus, persisting in perennial survey is base, intensifying quarantine sevice is key, and controllingspreading by human activity, and intensifying organization and leading work is guarantee forall works go smoothly.(3) ContoUing the amount of Monochamus alternatus is one of the most importanttechnique measures to prevent Bursaphelenchus xylophilus spreading and extending from oneplace to another. The density of Monochamus alternatus went down from 36 per tree in 1997to 5 per tree in 2004 by such measures as Log trapping, Scleroderma guani and cutting andcleating up dead and dying pines. Of the controlling density measures of Monochamusalternatus, it is one of the most effective measures to cut dead and dying pines and killBursaphelenchus xylophilus and Monochamus alternatus inside. In addition, attractingMonochamus alternatus adults with log trapping is also a effective way.(4) Preventing Bursaphelenchus xylophilus spreading naturally by strengtheningmanagement measures of pine stands, changing pure pine configuration, building mixed forest, and building biological isolation belt nearby the adjacent epidemic disease regions, which isanother effective measure to secure pine stands of Fengyang county.
