Selected two species six cultivars which have relative strong salt tolerance atgermination stage from 20 cultivars of cool-season turfgrasses through single saltNaCl stress, that is: Lolium perenne L. cv. 'Top Hat2' , Lolium perenneL. cv. 'Fairway' Lolium perenne L. cv. ' Caddieshack' , Festuca arundinaceaSchreb. cv. 'GT Fire Phoenix' ,Festuca arundinacea Schreb. cv. 'Jaguar' ,Festucaarundinacea Schreb. cv. 'Houndog5' .Determination of the greatest salt tolerableconcentration and comprehensive evaluation for seven physiological index changerule of seedling of six cultivars. The results shown that: (1) The greatest tolerableconcentration to single salt NaCl solution of six cultivars of cool-season turfgrassseedlings respectively is: Top Hat2 2.8%>Caddie shack, Fairway 2.6%>Fire Phoenix2.5%>Jaguar 2.4%>Houndog5 2.2%. (2) Proline content, cell membrane stability andMDA concentration increase along with the salt concentration increasing but solubleprotein content decreases with the increasing of salt concentration in six cultivars ofturfgrass leaves under NaCl solution stress(concentration is 0%, 0.2%, 0.4%, 0.8%,1.2%, 1.6%). So these indexes can be used as identification indexes on salt tolerableactivity of turfgrasses. Chlorophyll and soluble sugar contents are not determined asthe standard for appraising salt tolerance but as the norm for reference. (3)Comprehensive analysis on the rules of physiological indexes change under salt stresscan obtain six cultivars which have certain salt tolerance and order of salt tolerableactivity: Top Hat2>Caddieshack>Fairway>Fire Phoenix>Jaguar>Houndog5.
