13 inbred lines were chose as experimental material. All of them are main inbred lines in the four famous races and are or were used in maize breeding program. Them are 8902,7922,C8605-2,9046 and 4112 from Reid, huangzao 4,444 and 853 from Tangsipingtou, Mo17 from Lancaste, 340 from Lvdahonggu, the other three inbred lines were introduced from foreign hybrids. The irrigation and no-irrigation methods were used to compare the drought tolerance of the inbred lines, and the fertilizer and no-fertilizer methods were used to compare fertilizer tolerance. The order of inbred lines was set base on the data of the ASI(anthesis-silking interval), the yield and the stalk weight, to study the correlation between the drought tolerance and fertilizer tolerance of inbred lines. The results as follows:1,According to the data of ASI that from the irrigation treatment and the no-irrigation treatment, the inbred lines Ji63, 3403, Huangzao4 and Mo17 were show harder drought tolerance, so rank them to strong drought tolerance group; the inbred lines 340, 9046 and C8605-2 were show weak drought tolerance, so rank them to weak drought tolerance group; the inbred lines 7922, 853, 81162, 444 and 4112 were show middle drought tolerance, so rank them to middle drought tolerance group.2,According to the results of the yields under irrigation condition and no-irrigation condition, there were 5 inbred lines have the strong production ability under no-irrigation condition, the production are no more than 10 percent lower than the yield produced under irrigation condition, the inbred lines are Ji63, Huangzoa4, Mo17, 81162 and 3403. them showed strong drought tolerance and were ranked to strong drought tolerance group; there were three inbred lines that the yield produced under no-irrigation condition were lower more than 18 percent than the yield produced under irrigation condition, they showed weak drought tolerance and were ranked to weak drought tolerance group; the other five inbred lines 7922, 4112, 8902, 853 and 444 showed middle ability to drought tolerance, so them were ranked to middle drought tolerance group.3,According to the results of the yields under fertilizer condition and no-fertilizer condition, the results showed there were six inbred lines have the strong production ability under no-fertilizer condition, the production are no more than 15.3 percent lower than the yield produced under fertilizer condition, the inbred lines are 3403, 8902, Huangzao4, Ji63, 444 and Mo17. them showed strong fertilizer tolerance and were ranked to strong fertilizer tolerance group; there were four inbred lines that the yield produced under no-fertilizer condition were lower more than 30 percent than the yield produced under fertilizer condition, they showed weak fertilizer tolerance and were ranked to weak fertilizer tolerance group; the other three inbred lines 81162, 7922 and 853 showed middle ability to fertilizer tolerance, so them were ranked to middle fertilizer tolerance group.4,Contrast the drought tolerance and fertilizer tolerance of the inbred lines by yield, the results showed there is correlation between the drought tolerance and fertilizer tolerance, the correlation index is 0.86498. So the inbred lines that are in strong drought tolerance group are also in strong fertilizer tolerance group, so as to the middle drought tolerance group and middle fertilizer tolerance group, to the weak drought tolerance group and weak fertilizer tolerance group.Analysis on the stalk weight of the inbred lines, the results showed that the drought tolerance and fertilizer tolerance are in correlation, just like the foregoing results on yield.
