China is a large agricultural country, the work of breeding poultry has leading an important role in our country economies. Coccidiosis in chicken is caused by protozoan parasites of the genus Eimeria. This disease cause serious economic loss in chicken flocks, especially when the latter are raised under intensive conditions. This loss results not only from death of the infected chicken but also from the general deterioration in the health of the chicken which shows itself in depression of body growth rate and reduce food conversion efficiency.In the past, the disease has been controlled by the use of anticoccidial drugs which are generally administered either in the feed or in drinking water. These drugs act a very important role by inhibiting or slowing down the multiplication of Eimeria within the chicken. But resistance of Eimeria against anticoccidial drugs is increasing because many drugs have been used for a long time. There is a survey about ACI of E. tenella islolate from field to some anticoccidial druge come from GuangZhou province showed that four ionophorous anticoccidial druge Maduramycin, Semduramicin, Lasalocid and Salinomycium have no anticoccidial activity. Now, it is very difficulty to control cossidiosis by some anticoccidial drugs.The drugs of quinolinecarboxylate are good for coccidiosis in chicken, especially ethyl 6-n-decyloxy-7-ethoxy-4-hydroxy-3-quinolinecarboxylate, which have a good chemical active and a little toxicity for human.In order to look for some new anticoccidial drugs, which have simple structure and short synthetic routes, eight ethyl 6-aryloxy-4-hydroxy-3-quinolinecarboxylate have been designed and synthesized. The new process is characterized by short synthetic route, high yield and cheap raw materials, which is convenient for the commercial production. Structures of the new compounds have been confirmed by 1H NMR, MS, IR spectra and elemental analysis. Three of the new compounds were chosen for the anticoccidial activity test and the result had shown that ethyl 4-hydroxy-6- (2-methoxyphenoxy)-3-quinolinecarboxylate (TM6) is of anticoccidial activity and can be used as an anticoccidial medicine.These studies give a good basis to expand the research and applications of the quinolinecarboxylate and the related derivatives.
