Crested Ibis(Nipponia nippon) belongs to the animals under top-level State protection. But there is one Crested Ibis wild population at present; once it meets and comes down with the malignant incident such as disease or natural calamity, etc., they will probably bring the crushing consequence to wild population in existence. So, it is necessary to launch the reintroduction again as soon as possible, look for the suitable habitat, set up a remote wild population, making the quantity increase continually and steadily and getting rid of the endangered state completely.Through interpretation of the satellite picture of Ningshan county, analysis on topography, vegetation, use of land, and investigation and analysis of forestry, adaptability of Crested Ibis after reintroduction into release site in Ningshan county is analyzed, get the following main conclusion.1. Old city town, Tongchewan town, Simudi town, Jiaying town and other places of Ningshan county, with relatively large area of plains and gentle slopes, can be cultivated as large area paddy fields, affording good feeding ground for released Crested Ibis and suitable for its reintroduction.2. The area of paddy fields in Ningshan countiy is about 1069 hm2, and up to the constant completion of the water conservancy projects, the cultivated area will increase constantly. Besides, paddy fields almost lie in the open area of gully close to the water sources, where the Creseted Ibis have less interference in their foraging and these paddy fields afford the ideal feeding ground, which provide the foundation of reintroduction.3. Ningshan countiy have high coverage rate of forest, up to 87.4%, majorities of which are Chinese pines, oaks, hardwoods and softwoods, cork oaks, birches, Chinese chestnuts and armand's pines, etc., trees suitable for nesting and resting at night. And the vegetation structure is also a favorable condition to the reintroduction.4. The river drainage area in Ningshan county is large, and so is the river distribution range. There are less industrial factories and mines in the districts along the rivers, which makes water quality of the river good, and offers a good living environment for aquatic organisms, frogs, tadpoles, fish, etc. which will be the food of Crested Ibis. The hydrology characteristics of Ningshan county is favorable for the reintroduction.5. Guardianship after release can be taken by wild animals conservation network of Ningshan county, which is systematically constructed and paid attention to by the local government. The above-mentioned results indicate that Ningshan county is suitable for reintroduction test of the Crested Ibis.
