| Rye (Secal cereale L.) is one of the most importment annual forage. It can be used by animal and poultry during spring and winter because of its high cold resistance, early recovering and high photosynthesis efficiency. Introduction tests of Wintergrazer—70 rye have been carried out by researchers, but there is little research on the biological characteristics, yield and nutrition quality of rye planted in the area of Middle and Lower Yangtze River. The relationship between IVDMD and cell wall structural matter of rye lack intensive research. In order to provide theoretical bases for the planting of rye in the area of Middle and Lower Yangtze River, this experiment research the biological characteristics and nutrition quality of eight lines of rye cultivated by Animal Scinece Institute of Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and analyze the relationship between IVDMD and cell wall structural matter of rye. The main results showed as follows.1. The rye has the characteristic of abroad adaptive ability; it could hibernation safely in the area of Nanjing and rapidly grow after recovering at about February 25th. Rye has two peak period including jointing stage(March 23rd~March 29th) and heading stage(April 14th~April 21st). The fresh forage yield of RS-15 of late mature line is higher than other lines at heading stage.2. The crude protein content of RS-5 and RS-3 at heading stage is higher than those other lines. The difference of crude protein content between early maturity type and late maturity type shows no significant. The crude protein yield of late maturity type at heading stage is higher than early maturity type, the difference shows significant (P<0.05).3. The soluble sugar content of late maturity type is higher than early maturity type, the difference shows very significant (P<0.01). The soluble sugar yield of late maturity type is higher than early maturity type, the difference shows very significant (P<0.01).4. The cellulose content is the main influencing factor of IVDMD of rye. The correlation coefficient between cellulose content of early maturity type rye at heading stage and IVDMD is-0.670, the correlation shows significance (P<0.05); The correlation coefficient between cellulose content of late maturity type forage rye at heading stage and IVDMD is-0.936, the correlation shows very significance (P<0.01); The correlation coefficient between cellulose content of early maturity type rye at anthesis stage and IVDMD is-0.510, the correlation shows significance (P<0.05); The correlation coefficient between cellulose content of late maturity type rye at anthesis stage and IVDMD is-0.705, the correlation shows significance (P<0.05); The correlation between hemicellulose content and IVDMD shows no significance; The correlation between hemicellulose digestibility and IVDMD shows no significance; The correlation between lignin content and IVDMD shows no significance; The correlation between lignin digestibility and IVDMD shows no significance. |
