Barley had strong salt tolerance. For selection of strong salt tolerance barley germplasm 12 different types barley varieties from domestic and foreign were evaluated under different salt stress of at seedling stage,stem elongation stage and whole growth stage. The treatment were combined with indoor identification, pots treated and fields identification. All accessions were classified by the analysis of variance, principle component analysis, the value of D and the hierachical cluster.The results were as follows:(1) In the seedling stage it had significant genetic differences in varieties on seedlings length,leaf age, first leaf length, central leaf length , SOD activity , MDA content, protoplasmic membrane permeability. These traits were also affected by different concentration of salt.5 indexes (seedling leaf age, first leaf length ,SOD activity , MDA content, protoplasmic membrane permeability )were different with the concentration of salt.The control was highest and the treatment by 1.0 % salinity was lowest on the average of seedling main agronomic traits. The traits were deteriorated with the increase of salinity. SOD activizty of the treatment by 1.0% salinity was highest and the control was lowest. The treatment by 1.0% salinity was highest and the treatment by 0.3% salinity was lowest on MDA content and protoplasmic membrane penetrability(2) The difference of the per plant tiller number in the varieties, salinities and stages and the interaction between variety and stage, variety and salinity were very significant.It showed that there was significant genetic differences on the per plant tiller numbers in varieties. The difference of tiller numbers in varieties was different with the barley growth and different concentration of salt. The barley plants under 1.0% salinity conditions were all died on March 25.(3) The difference of 8 main traits in the varieties and the salinitis were very significant in the different years and different concentration of salt.It showed these traits had significant genetic difference in varieties and they also were affected by different salinity.The difference of grains per spike(GPS) and weight of 1000 grains(WTG) in varieties were different with the change of salinity and the other traits in varieties no relation with the different concentration of salt.The difference of plant height(PH),the top 1st internode length(TFIL),spike per plant(SPP),grains per spike(GPS) and weight of 1000 grains(WTG) in varieties were different with the climate in different years.(4) The stability of salt tolerance in varieties were different in the barley different stage. For example, the identification in fields and seedling stage Yangsimai 1 and Rugaozhaoliuleng salt tolerance were better .Gardner also showed better salt tolerance in seedling stage,stem elongation booting stage and fields.In the same stage.The tendency of salt tolerance in different varieties was inconsistent with the salinity change,such as the salt tolerance of Numar was reduced with the increase of salinity and the salt tolerance of Rugaozhaoliuleng was strengthen with increase of salinity in seedling stage.
