Rice stripe disease, spread by the small brown planthopper, LaodelPhax striatellus Fallen, harmed rice widely in Jiangsu Province. But there is a lack of effective integrated control measures to the disease. Through the field survey and control trials in Wujiang in consecutive three years, occurring rule and control points of the rice stripe disease and the small brown planthopper have been obtained. The grain-seedtime and transplanting stage are found to be the crucial factors of the incidence of the rice stripe disease. The other factors act under the influence of grain-seedtime and transplanting stage. Planting resistant rice breeds and cultivating in light-system have been proved to be the better control measures at present. 5% fipronil has better effect to control the planthopper. Thus, a suit of the integrated control measures adapt to Jiangsu is summarized. The integrated control measures emphasize particularly on resisting, avoiding and controlling the hoppers, and cutting off the chain.
