| This study was analyzed the Cornell Net Carbohydrate and Protein System(CNCPS) protein and carbohydrate fractionation components of twenty-three feeds for ruminants, compared with the utilizable crude protein(uCP), and look into that if it could be possible to use CNCPS chemical analysis methods to evaluate the nutritive value of feedstuffs for ruminants. The first experiment twenty-three feeds for ruminants were analyzed with CNCPS methods for NDF, ADF, LIGNIN, STARCH, total CHO and CP, NPN, SCP, NDIP, ADIP. The components of feed protein and carbohydrate fractionation components PA, PB1, PB2, PB3, PC, CA, CB1, CB2, CC were then caculated according to the CNCPS.The second experiment of this study, three goats, fitted with a rumen cannula, was used as the donor of rumen fluid. The utilizable crude protein (uCP) of twenty-three feeds were determined with the in vitro incubation technique of Zhao and Lebzien (2000).The CNCPS protein and carbohydrate fractionation components of the feeds were compared with the uCP. It was found that there is significant regression relationship between uCP and CNCPS protein and carbohydrate fractionation components in all feed samples:uCP(%)=0.997×PA+1.206×PB1+0.837×PB2+1.813×PB3+3.510×PC+0.432×CA+0.221×CB1+0.276×CB2+0.389×CC-22.310R2=0.95,n=23,p<0.001uCP(%)=0.517×PA+0.388×PB1+0.775×PB2+1.720×PB3+3.305×PC+4.110R2=0.94,n=23,p<0.01uCP(%)=-0.302×CA-0.586×CB1-0.592×CB2-0.479×CC+57.244R2=0.91,n=23,p<0.001The results of this study indicated that there is close correlation between uCP and CNCPS protein and carbohydrate fractionation components (PA, PB1, PB2, PB3, PC, CA, CB1, CB2, CC ). Therefore, it might possible to estimate uCP and evaluate the nutritive value of feeds with CNCPS protein and carbohydrate fractionation components, through chemical analysis of the compositions of feeds. |
