Cadmium availability to two rice cultivars(Xiushui110 and Xiushui11) and oxidative metabolism and growth of rice were studied with hydroponical culture experiments and pot experiments. Results showed that butachlor enhanced the inhibitory of growth of rice, decreased the content of chlorophyll significantly under cadmium stress.And butachlor increased the Cd accumulation of plants, under 0.5mmol·L-1 Cd condition, due to 6.88μmol·L-1 butachlor ,the Cd content of Xiushui110 root and shoot were increased by 59.77% and 72.09%; Under the same contion the Cd2+content of Xiushui11 root and shoot were increased by 26.15% and 47.84%.Results also indicated that butachlor increased the content of brown rice.Meanwhile ,the generation rate of O2·-,content of H2O2 and MDA were enhanced by the effect of butachlor,we could reach a conclution that butachlor increased the membrane lipid peroxidation. With increasing of butachlor concentration, activity of SOD,CAT and G-POD were changed significantly.when under 6.88μmol·L-1 butachlor and 0.5mmol·L-1 Cd2+ condtion, the comparison of ratios of SOD/ O2·-,SOD/G-POD,SOD/CAT,CAT/H2O2 and G-POD/ H2O2 were changed considerably. It is supposed that butachlor disturbed the equilibration between active oxygen species and antioxidant enzymes.
