In this paper, the theoretical of density contour map and geostatistics were applied to study the dynamics of plant population's spatial pattern on the restoring succession of the community in Inner Mongolia typical grassland, and discussed the influence of micro-topographical on the plant population's spatial pattern. The results as follows:1. Based on the density contour map, we proposed the concepts of patch, edge of patch and dentity change rate of patch. These concepts will be very helpful to analysis the form of patch;2. Quantitative research on population's patch is helpful to understand characters of population, such as; patch behavior, shape, composition and structure. Population's spatial pattern do not rely on the scale, but on the spatial resolution;3. Population's density in the patch was uniformity on the basis of comparing population's dentity change of patch at different directions;4. When the dynamics of population's pattern in the course of restoring succession was analyzed, it was discovered that interspecific competition happened through patch. This paper confirmed the hypothesis of battle array, and proposed the behavior mode of interspecific competition;5. Methods of geostatis and density contour map were same when studying patch;6. The results showed that the correlation between population's spatial pattern and Micro-topography were not significant. It could be concluded that the cause of population's spatial pattern was resulted from the co-action of competitive pattern, reproductive pattern and temporal pattern.
