Adalia conglomerata (Linneaus) belongs to Coleoptera, Coccinellidae, Coccinelinae, Adalia. The ladybeetles distributed in Sichuan, Yunan, Shaanxi in China, and form Japan and the Russian Far East to Europe. This research most studied on its morphological, biological and function response by a systemic investigation and observation to grope for the phylogeny in Sichuan, and its predation function on A.tsugae Annand. The study provided advisable directions for using A.conglomerata to biological control A.tusgae .1. The biological characteristics of Adalia conglomerataThrough the research in Maoniugou, Dingguoshan and Shaachougou Ganzi Sichuan province, Adalia conglomerata occurres one generation per year in Sichuan, and over winters as adult. About late March the following year warmer temperature returned, the ladybeetles adult begin to terminated dormancy and lay eggs. And reach the Oviposition peak in April. Every female adult lay about 56 eggs. In the middle or late April reach the hatching peak. Larval period is in the May. Begin to pupate in early June and reach the peak in the late June. Early July adult appear. The peak is in the late July. They can't be found in the field after middle October while they begin to over wintered. The developmental duration of each generation was 12, 8, 9, 9, 12, 25 and 16 days, respectively. The life-span of adult is long which on average 82 days in lab.Adalia conglomerata's distribution in Sichuan is according to the tsugae's.2 The functional response of Adalia conglomerata predation on Adelges tsugaeIn the choice functional response of different development phase, Adalia conglomerata can eat every A.tsugae, but eggs are the most favorite. It's very important in controlling A.tsugae. Under laboratory conditions, the equation of Holling II could be well used to describe the function response of A.conglomerata predation on A.tsugae. The predate capability of A.conglomerata increased as its age older, and the predation number was gradually converge to a maximum. And the predation numbers of the adults were Na=0.91744Nt/1+0.002871Nt. The maximum predation number every age old ladybirds were: the firstinstar 22.7, the second 31.8, the third 64.1, the fourth 93.0, and the adult had the biggest predation number, was 138. 1per day. The proper proportion between A.conglomerata adult and A. Tsugae was 1:80. At the same outer environment, as the increase of the density of predators, the interference between each predators was stronger, and the predating capability of the predators became weaker. At the room temperature ,the equation of predation rate was: E=0.4571P-0.5568, r2=0.9859.3. Choice predation functionIn single choice predation, Adalia conglomerata can eat Adelges Tsugae and Pineus armandicola, but not eat A.piceae. In pair choice predation between A.Tsugae and P.armandicola, A. Tsugae had ate more.4. Using artificial diet in rearing Adalia conglomerataUsing artificial diet in rearing Adalia conglomerata, they can complete they development of one generation. It can present a consultation of cosmically rearing A. conglomerata. But the adult can't lay eggs .So the composition of the artificial diet should be done some promote.
