Physiological and biochemical Characteristics, characteristics against drought in 4 cultivars of Loropetalum chinense var.rubrum were studied in this paper.Theory base would be preferred for selection of Loropetalum chinense var.rubrum against drought and primary indexes against drought, study of mechanism against drought.Experiment was conducted with the leaves of 1-year-old Loropetalum chinense var.rubrum under six soil moisture treatments(soil relative water content 75±2%,65±2%,55±2%,45±2%,35±2%,25±2%,respectively) and CK with supplying water usually in field conditions. The effects of soil drought stress on physiological and biochemical characteristics in Loropetalum chinense var.rubrum were studied in this paper.Through testing of indexes under six soil moisture treatments, the results were as follows:1.Loropetalum chinense var.rubrum contains a higher moisture content, and relative water content of leaves(LRWC) decreased under soil drought stress. With decreasing heavily about soil relative water content, relative water content of leaves decreased rapidly. On the other hand, decreasing speed about 4 cultivars of Loropetalum chinense var.rubrum was not nearly, and their LRWC was as follows: 'Dayehong'>'Jianyehong'>'Qiaoyehong'>'Xiyehong'.2.PRO and soluble sugar overall upward trend, which, after a decline on the first PRO,sustained stress(SRWC 45±2 percent),PRO content in a significant increase in the size of its accumulation in the following order:'Dayehong'>'Jianyehong'>'Qiaoyehong'>'Xiyehong' under drought stress, and significant accumulation of soluble sugar, when SRWC was 25±2%,it got to the highest accumulation. The accumulation of increase was:'Jianyehong'>'Dayehong'>'Qiaoyehong'>'Xiyehong'.3.Soil drought stress on the impact of the membrane system, the soil under drought stress,Loropetalum chinense var.rubrum relative conductivity rose, the increase rate slowed,'Xiyehong' rose fastest, followed by 'Qiaoyehong', 'Jianyehong' again,'Dayehong' minimum, and 'Xiyehong' relative conductivity was almost always at their highest.4.Under drought stress Loropetalum chinense var.rubrum soluble protein content change and drought stress was negatively correlated. All varieties of soluble protein content of SRWC 75±2%and the control of the existence of significant differences, and were on the rise.SRWC in the 45±2%and the CK there were significant difference or no significant difference.5.From the principal component analysis could be drawn from the results for the first principal component blade relative water content(LRWC),PRO.The second principal component relative conductivity, soluble sugar and soluble protein, and MDA.
