Grass planting pavement is a kind of permeable ground pavement which is different from hard pavement.It can not only solve many problems which are bring by hard surface such as heat island effect,loss of green space,poor water permeability and so on,but also improve urban green coverage rate,increase road landscape in city.So,it is vigorously promoted and applied.It was found that application rate of grass planting pavement was still low in the roads and parking lots in Shanghai.and percentage of impervious area was more than 80%.The application of grass planting pavement in the parking lots was relatively high,.Some residential,parks,green spaces used the parking lot of grass planting pavement,however,examples of the application in the sidewalk were very few.In general, Shanghai was still mainly the traditional rigid pavement,and the technology was still in the research and exploration stage.The plants of Gramineae such as Cynodon dactylon,Lolium perenne were mainly planted in the grass planting brick,which resulted in a single plant species relatively more monotonous landscape.In addition,it had not a uniform standard about the width gap between the bricks.In response to these issues,selecting the potential plants application in pavement in Shanghai,enriching the pavement' landscape,standardizing the width of gap between the bricks in pavement.as the reserved slot issues requiring urgent solution.Through comprehensive surveying the kind of plant species used in grass planting pavement and the forms of pavement in Shanghai,anthor initial screened Dichondra repens,Cynodon dactylon,Duchesnea indica,Oxalis pes-caprae and Euphorbia humifusa which had a better performances as the test materials to simulat sidewalk pavement design.Through comparison and analysis the five kinds of plants' apparent quality,growth and development indicators and physical indicators in different trampling intensity treatment and different growth space.Based on the studies above,the plant selection system and relative technology system in pavement were initially developed.,providing the necessary theoretical support and technical assurance for pavement' afforestation.Through the studies that mentioned above,what can be concluded is that: First,it was found in the survey that 56 kinds of plants in totally are used frequently in pavement. These plants involve 27 families and 50 genera.And Herba hydrocotylis,Euphorbia humifusa,Sagina japonica and so on are used most frequently.Sagina japonica,Dichondra repens,Oxalis pes-caprae and so on grow well in all seasons so that they have good prospects for the development and application.Second,there was a significant difference among the different plants in various indicators.All indicators of the same plant were significant differences in different spatial and different trampling intensity treatments.With the increasing of the growth space,plants'indicators showed a upward trend, with the increasing of trampling intensity,indicators showed a downward trend.Overall,in the same conditions,the plants' Characters in 3cm growth space>2cm growth space>1cm growth space,mild trampling> moderate trampling>severe trampling.The apparent quality of the comprehensive evaluation results showed that:Euphorbia humifusa's performance on cover,density,texture,uniformity was the best.By trampling treatment,its average scores of the apparent quality were 9.5 points;Dichondra repens's performance was good,and the average scores of the apparent quality were 7.8 points;The apparent quality's scores of Cynodon dactylon and Oxalis pes-caprae were the lowest,only 5.3 points.In particular,under the lcm growth space and severe trampling,Cynodon dactylon's scores were 2.7 points,Oxalis pes-caprae's scores were 2 points.Growth and development of indicators'comprehensive evaluation results showed that:the five plant's growth and development indicators were the downward trend under the trampling treatment.In general,with increasing of the growth of space and decreasing of the trampling intensity, aboveground biomass,below-ground biomass strains and plant height were the upward trend.It was basic agreement between growth and development of indicators and apparent quality indicators. Euphorbia humifusa's performance on the ground biomass,below-ground biomass and height was the best,and its average scores of the apparent quality were 9.7 points.The remaining four plants' comprehensive scores were far below the scores of Euphorbia humifusa.Comprehensive scores of Dichondra repens and Oxalis pes-caprae were about 5.9 points.Comprehensive scores of Cynodon dactylon and Sagina japonica were about 5 points.The comprehensive evaluation of the results of Physiological and metabolic indicators,the quality and the apparent and growth and development indicators were basically the same trend. Euphorbia humifusa's performance was best;Dichondra repens was followed,and its comprehensive scores were 7.2 points;Comprehensive scores of Cynodon dactylon and Sagina japonica were about 6 points;Oxalis pes-caprae' performance was the worst,and its scores were 4.7 points.The final comprehensive scores showed that:Euphorbia humifusa's adaptability for the environment of pavement was the strongest.It was excellent under different growth space and different trampling intensity treatments.Its comprehensive scores were much higher than the other four plants because it grows close to the ground and and tolerate the poor soil and drought.Dichondra repens' adaptability was followed.Its comprehensive scores were 7-8 points under different growth space and different trampling intensity treatments(except 1cm,2cm space growth besides severe trampling).Comprehensive scores of Cynodon dactylon,Sagina japonica and Oxalis pes-caprae were mainly in the range of 5-7 points under different growth space and different trampling intensity treatments.Comprehensive scores of Cynodon dactylon and Oxalis pes-caprae were in the range of 1-5 points under severe trampling,for the inferior performance significantly lower than those with mild to moderate trampling,Comprehensive scores of Cynodon dactylon and Oxalis pes-caprae were in the range of 7-8 points under mild trampling in 3cm growth space.Its performance was better.Third,thermal imager was used to photo for grass planting pavement and it was found that the surface temperature of grass planting pavement was 41.9℃while that of concrete ground pavement was 51℃.Thanks to the plant embedded in pavement was different,the surface temperature of pavement changed accordingly,and the surfaces' temperature from low to high were:Dichondra repens< Euphorbia humifusa
