| A Monitoring and Forecasting Information System of rice leaffolder Cnaphalocrocis medinalis(Güenée)in Jiangsu Province based on internet and WebGIS was developed.Jiangsu Province is one of the most important rice production regions in China. Rice leaffolder C. medinalis(Güenée)outbreaks pervasively in the region, which has resulted in serious damage to rice production since 2003. So far, one of the main problems in controlling C. medinalis is that the forecasting information is not timely and exact which has resulted in serious consequences, such as unpunctual controlling, improper use of pesticides, fast development of the pests'resistance, destroying the biogeocenose of the rice paddy, restricting the rice production and supply, etc. One of the reasons for these phenomena is negligence of contact among the research institutions, technology-extending departments and farmers, and is short of scientific forecasting and decision mechanism in pest management for farmers. Therefore, to establish integrative system of pest inspection and controlling, expedite channel of the information of pest prevention and controlling, scientific monitoring and forecasting information system of pest management are the keys for sustainable controlling of C. medinalis and keeping safe production of the rice.The research aims to improve the forecasting level of C. medinalis in Jiangsu Province, under the guidance of software engineering, Monitoring and Forecasting Information System of Rice Leaffolder C. medinalis(Güenée)in Jiangsu Province was established. Taking the advanced information technology and the information sharing platform, the Monitoring and Forecasting Information System is possessed of high visuality, facilitative operation and artificial intelligence. The functions and contents of the system are as follows:(1) Statistical analysis and query. It provides the rice production information,meteorological data,C. medinalis biological information,occurrence data, which helps improving the accuracy of forecasting.(2) Regional forecasting. Correlative regional modules were established to provide short-, medium- and long-term forecast, which helps forecasting the dynamic occurrence of the pest population, and providing suitable controlling.(3) Spatial display. Geobaeans 5.0 software was introduced to this module, it can help users get the dynamic information about the distribution of C. medinalis, realize the connecting of spatial display and data analysis.(4) Controlling decision. It provides suitable stage controlling advice,suitable using way of pesticides and C. medinalis investigation specification.(5) Expert Online.
