A study on an improved stomach surgery for dogs' weight loss has completed.Through viewing the dynamic changes of the postoperative incidence of gastroenteritis, inflammation levels, weight, gastric emptying time, leptin and tumor necrosis factor-αthe pros and cons of the surgery were evaluated to anticipate that the operation can be extended to clinical applications. This test was divided into two groups, namely, the experimental group and the control group.Every of the selected 20 dogs was60~90days old weighted about 2~4Kg and was physically healthy. The dogs were randomly and equally divided between male and female, then each group had 10 dogs and was fed individually. An improved gastric resection was applied to the experimental group, the control group used the Billroth I gastric resection, which is a traditional gastrectomy..All operations were done by the same person. After the partial gastrectomy, the incidence of gastroenteritis, weight gastric emptying time, blood cells,as well as the dynamic changes of obesity-related factors were tested. The gastroenteritis incidence and weight changes of postoperative showed that:Three dogs had gastroenteritis in the experimental group and there were six dogs in the control group,so the incidence of gastroenteritis of the experimental group is lower than that of the control group. Compared the weight of preoperative and postoperative both groups had weight loss just after surgery and there was still a small scale weight loss after rehabilitation,i e eight days after surgery. And the downward trend in the experimental group was more obvious, but there was no significant difference(P>0.05) between two groups. The detection of blood cells at preoperative and postoperative showed that:Both groups appeared the WBC peak one day after surgery but the peak of the control group is higher than that of the experimental group and the difference was more significant(P<0.01).The WBC came back to the normal range at the third day.And the RBC,HGB index descended firstly, but began to rise from the fifth day and retuned to normal levels finally.Gastric emptying time before and after operation,as well as the dynamic changes of obesity factor showed that:(1) By testing gastric emptying time we found that two groups' gastric emptying time of the experimental group was shorter than that of the control group and the difference was more significant(P<0.01).(2) Serum leptin(Leptin) test indicated that both groups had a downward trend in serum leptin, and decreased obviously at the third fifth eighth, fifteenth, thirtieth days after surgery, after surgery. Moreover, the difference between the two groups was significant(0.01<P<0.05).(3) The levels of tumor necrosis-α(TNF-α) in serum went up firstly and then decline, and that of two groups at the third, fifth, eighth, fifteenth days after surgery had significant difference(0.01<p<0.05).Combinated the results ahead and compared to the traditional method Pichia I gastric resection, the improved method which combines with the dog's physiological and anatomical characteristics has less harm and has certainty weight loss.As a result, the improved partial gastrectomy is more suitable for the weight loss of small animals,dogs,etc...
