In this study, three cabbage cultivars with different head splitting resistance, including'315'(easy to cracking),'320'(split-resistant) and '328'(moderation split-resistant) were used for this study.Leaf tissues structures were made with the paraffin sections.Calcium, potassium, waxiness contents of leaves were determined at different stages and studied the rate of head-splitting correlation with Calcium, potassium, waxiness contents. The result indicated that head-splitting appeared in a very early time,(1)the rate of head-splitting reached 15%in mature period, but '320'and '328'were 0.(2)The variety of resistant to splitting had thick cuticle, more vascular bundle and vessel, thick skin cell walls, small parenchyma cells, and those cells were in good order, and with less intercellular space.'328'had thinner cuticle, less vascular bundle and vessel, thinner skin cell walls, bigger parenchyma cells, and parenchyma cells were with more intercellular space than'320'.On the contrary,'315'that easiest splitting had thin cuticle, less vascular bundle and vessel, thin skin cell walls, bigger parenchyma cells than '320'.Parenchyma cells were not in good order, and with more intercellular space. (3)Calcium content and waxiness content of '320'were lower than in'315',and potassium content was significantly greater than those in'315'(P<0.01).(4)There was a significant negative correlation between the rate of head-splitting and potassium content, waxiness content, and a significant positive correlation with Calcium content in leaves.
