With the data of Maoershan sample plot in this paper,a new sampling method was put forward to research the distribution pattern of the herbage,which was called "perspective-sampling method".Pyrola dahurica was the study subject.Distribution patterns of Pyrola dahurica were measured respectively by uniformity method,aggregation index method and nearest-neighbor method in small scale measurement.Using Iwao m~* and(?) regression method and the power-exponential formular method of Taylor,the overall pattern of Pyrola dahurica was also analyzed.The results are followed:1.This perspective-sampling method can be used very well in many image processing software like ENVI,ERDAS IMAGINE and Arc View to process and analysize the dot graphs of plant's pattern.It achieves to extract the vector point automatically by using Band math in ENVI,and this method does not require manual map any more.With the image processing software people can complete the automation of the operations and procedures,and improve the accuracy of extraction point.The pictures acquired by using this method can be applied to analysize the pattern of plant.2.The measurement's result indicated that the distribution patterns of population of Pyrola dahurica mainly belonged to random distribution pattern by uniformity method,aggregation index method method and nearest-neighbor method.That is no evident repelling action between individuals.The measurement's result of Iwao m~* and(?) regression method and the power-exponential formular method of Taylor is aggregated pattern in small scale measurement.3.The uniformity method was applied to the measurement of spatial distribution patterns of population.Comparing to the aggregation index method and nearest-neighbor method,it was more accurate to measure the type of spatial pattern than two others because of its neither size restriction of populations nor quadrat and being irrelative with population density with more excellent results.To the herbaceous plant,it was more of practicability than Point pattern analysis in practice because of its no complicated sampling process.4.It was indicated that the aggregation indices of Pyrola dahurica population were inverse ratio to the transmittance,the pH value of soil and the population density,proportional to aeration of the soil and soil capacity.
