The test plots located in Liangshui National Nature Reserve where was test site for Northeast Forestry University.This paper sdudied soil properties,water holding capacity of litter and water storage performance of different stages of betula platyphylla secondary forest, the study revealed the functional differences of water conservation.At the same time also the forest of its precipitation,throughfall,stemflow and litter water in the Cl-,NH4+-N,Na+,NO3--N,TN,K+,Ca2+,Mg2+,Fe,Mn and other nutrient elements were measured,to study the different properties of hydrochemical between four different stages of betula platyphylla secondary forest.The results showed:(1)The volume and maximum water holding capacity of litter in 38 year-old of betula platyphylla secondary forest were maximum,while 70 year-old were lower relatively.There were significant positive correlation between the volume and maximum water holding capacity of litter.(2)The 38 year-old and the 56 year-old of betula platyphylla secondary forest was conducive to the infiltration of precipitation in 0~30cm soil.The soil infiltration performance of 38 year-old of betula platyphylla secondary forest was better.The non-capillary water holding capacity of 38 year-old of betula platyphylla secondary forest was maximum in 0~30cm soil,the capillary water holding capacity and total water storage capacity of 56 year-old of betula platyphylla secondary forest were maximum,the results suggest that soil hydrological function of 38 year-old and 56 year-old of betula platyphylla secondary forest was better.(3)Inorganic nitrogen,TN,Ca2+ and Mn of throughfall was the lowest concentration in 25 year-old of betula platyphylla secondary forest,Cl-and Mg2+of throughfall was the lowest congcentration in38 year-old of betula platyphylla secondary forest,Na+,K+,Fe of throughfall was the lowest congcentration in56 year-old of betula platyphylla secondary forest.(4)NH4+-N of stemflow was the lowest congcentration in 25 year-old of betula platyphylla secondary forest,NO3--N,TN,Cl-,K+,Mn and Fe was the lowest congcentration in 38 year-old of betula platyphylla secondary forest,Na+,Ca2+and Mg2+of stemflow was the lowest congcentration in 56 year-old of betula platyphylla secondary forest.(5)C1-,NH4+-N,TN,Na+and K+ of litter wate was the lowest congcentration in 25 year-old of betula platyphylla secondary forest,NO3--N,Mg2+,Mn and Fe of litter wate was the lowest congcentration in 38year-old of betula platyphylla secondary forest.Ca2+of litter wate was the lowest congcentration in 56 year-old of betula platyphylla secondary forest.
