Objective To compare which method can detect earlier stage of atherosclerosis rabbits ,with pulse doppler technique measuring the resistent index(RI),pulsatility index(PI)and with echo- tracking technique measuring pressure - strain elastic modulus(Ep),stiffness (β) and compliance(AC) of abdominal aorta in rabbits.Methods 48 masculinity rabbits were divided into 2 groups randomly:control group(24),experimental group(24).Every group was divided into three sub - groups according to the week of feeding.The control group rabbits were bred with normal animal feeds while experimental group rabbits were bred with hyperlipoids animal feeds.Measuring TC,TG,HDL - C and LDL - C from vein blood and taking abdominal aorta long axis view measured RI,PI,Ep,βand AC of control and experimental group at the end of 4weeks,8weeks and 12weeks,in order to detect the occurrence of atherosclerosis.Results At the end of 4weeks,experimental group rabbits (B1)TC,TG,HDL - C and LDL - C increased significantly comparing with control group (A1)(P<0.01),AC reduced significantly comparing with control group(A1)(P<0.05). At the end of 8weeks experimental group rabbits(B2)had higher Ep andβthan control group (A2)(P<0.01).At the end of 12weeks,RI and PI were higher than control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Comparing echo - tracking technique and pulse doppler technique,the former can detect earlier stage of atherosclerosis.
