As far as the sustainable agriculture in arid and semiarid areas is concerned, it is an important guarantee to develop water-saving agriculture and increase Water Use Efficiency (WUE). As an important high-tech product of drought resistance and water saving, water retaining agent plays an important role in modern agriculture. In this paper, binding of bare soil experiment under outdoor and indoor condition as well as experiment of soybean planting under subsurface drip irrigation conditions, researched the effects of water retention, heat preservation, increase production and improve soybean quality of a new soil finishing agent named "Guilspare", the results as follows:(1) Both in bare soil experiment under outdoor and indoor condition, Guilspare embodied good performance in water retention, heat preservation and salinization control. Under the condition of 2% spraying concentration and 50%, 75%, 100% duty, average soil water content of indoors were 7.82%, 11.32%, 14.36%, which higher than that of contrast ones respectively; under the condition of 1% ,1.5% and 2% spraying concentration and same duty, average soil water content higher than that of contrast ones respectively, which ranged in 4.96%~9.91% under indoors condition compare to 5.59%~20.57% under outdoors condition. Soil water content increased with spray concentration increasing, and the increase amplitude of indoors is more obvious than that of outdoors. Average soil temperature of 0~5cm were 2.21%,1.11%,0.74% higher than that of contrast ones respectively and conductance value were 9%,12.87%,16% lower than that of contrast ones respectively.(2) Based on subsurface drip irrigation condition, the application research of Guilspare on soybean shows that soil finishing agent embodied good performance of water retention. 1) under the condition of 2% spraying concentration and 50%,75%, 100% duty, similar variation of soil water content were seen in each treatment at different soil depth.Water content of each soil depth were higher than that of contrast ones, which range in 5.04~38.01%. The increase amplitude of water content increased at first and then decreased with irrigation quantity increasing, but decreased with soil depth increasing. 2) Same variation of average soil water content of each treatment at 0~60cm soil depth were seen in the whole irrigation period, water content of each soil depth were higher than that of contrast ones, which ranged in 12.80~36.58%.The increase amplitude of water content increased at first and then decreased with irrigation quantity increasing. 3)Though reduced 33%,25% of irrigation quantity respectively, water content were higher than that of contrast ones. The research showed that application of soil finishing agent under subsurface drip irrigation condition embodied good performance of water retention. Effect of water retention was analyzed and compared, which found that: T75>T50>T100.(3) Guilspare embodied regulatory effects for soil temperature. 1) soil accumulated temperature at 0~20cm soil depth of each treatment was not the same compare to contrast ones at different time. At 8:00 and 14:00 the increase amplitude of soil accumulated temperature increased first and then decreased with soil depth increasing, but decreased at first then increases at 20:00; Except the increase amplitude of soil accumulated temperature at 0~5cm soil depth was minus, which was -96.2℃at 14.00 and the increase amplitude of soil accumulated temperature in others soil depth were 2℃~68.5℃at 8:00 and 14.00, were 3.1℃~66.1℃at 20.00. 2) The sum of daily average soil temperature of treatment group at 0~25cm soil depth were higher 16.7℃than that of contrast ones and variation of daily cumulative soil temperature of treatment group and contrast ones had same changes, the change of daily cumulative soil temperature showed a linear trend. the total sum of daily cumulative soil temperature of treatment group was 250.5℃higher than that of contrast ones. 3) Analysis to the soil accumulated temperature change in same times at different soil depth showed that the fluctuation of soil accumulated temperature at 0~15cm larger than that of 15~25cm, which similar to contrast ones.(4) Guilspare embodied good performance in promoting plant Characters of soybean. Under the condition of 2% spraying concentration and 50%, 75% duty, the soybean's plant height,stem diameter and Pod-setting length were 8.32%,6.38%,10.59%;7.14%,7.84%,5.55% higher than that of contrast ones respectively, but were -1.86%,-3.85%,7.19% higher than that of contrast ones when 100% duty. It showed that Guilspare had some promoting effects to plant height,stem diameter and pod-setting length of soybean when 50%, 75% duty and no obvious effect when 100% duty. Significant effect to pod numbers in the whole growth period can be seen with spraying of Guilspare.(5) Guilspare embodied good performance in water retention and production increasing as well as improving quality of soybean. Pods and seeds number per plant, grain weight per plant and100-grain weight of different treatment were higher than that of contrast ones; Under the condition of 2% spraying concentration and50% ,75%,100% duty, the soybean's yields were 11.49%,7.83%,16.02% higher than that of contrast ones;total content of protein and oil were 6.95%,0.33%,4.53% higher than that of contrast ones respectively. As far as stimulation effect was concerned found that: T100>T50>T75.Though reduce 33%,25% of irrigation quantity respectively, protein and oil content is higher than that of contrast ones. The research showed that Guilspare embodied good performance of water retention and improving quality of soybean.(6) Guilspare can reduce soybean's evapotranspiration and increase water use efficiency. Under the condition of 2% spraying concentration and50%,75%,100%duty, the total water consumption of each treatment were 4.44%,6.11%,1.73% lower than that of contrast ones, water use efficiency were 16.13%, 15.38%,19.15% higher than that of contrast ones respectively. It showed that Guilspare embodied good performance in water retention and production increasing as well as water use efficiency increasing, total water consumption of T50 treatment was 3422.81 m3/hm2 which was the minimum, but WUE was 0.72 kg∕m3 which was the maximum. It showed that the T50 treatment embodied the best performance in water saving and yield as well as WUE.
