The physiological and biochemical indexes were studied to reveal the effect of different water content and storage temperature on the process of aging and deterioration of Cunninghamia Lanceolata and Pinus Massoniana Seeds during 1 year storage. The results were shown as follows:(1)With the prolong of storage time, the germination percentage of both seeds decreased. The result after one year of storage showed that the seeds of Cunninghamia lanceolata with moisture content of 3%~5% and storage temperature of -25℃~-5℃could keep a higher level of germination percentage, and the seeds of Pinus massoniana with water content of 4% and storage temperature of -5℃~5℃had the highest level of germination percentage.(2) Under the same condition of seed water content, a higher vigor of Cunninghamia lanceolata seeds could be maintained when storage temperature was -25℃or lower; but the vigor of Pinus massoniana seeds was opposite if they were kept in a storage temperature of -25℃or lower.(3) With the prolong of storage time, the superoxide anion (O2-) and malondialdehyde (MDA) content of both seeds increased. The O2- and MDA content of Cunninghamia lanceolata seeds increased over time; but the MDA contents of Pinus massoniana seed declined slightly first and then increased sharply.(4) With the prolong of storage time, the activity of protective enzymes dropped as a whole.(5)About these two seeds, higher seed germination percentage and vigor index can be maintained under the condition of low temperature and low moisture content, the toxic accumulate was slower and damage to activity system was lower.
