The Effect Of "Yang Bao" On Weight Gain And Immune Function In Small Tail Han Sheep

This paper is on the premise of increasing the rate of weight gain, and enhancing immunity of Small tail han sheep. Small tail Han sheep's Chinese herbal formula feed additives - "Yangbao" that mainly consist of Astragalus and Hawthorn which are in favor of adjusting immunity, combining the development of traditional Chinese veterinary medicine theory and modern medical research, complying with the principles of benefits to make up blood, the foundation centralizer, and spleen appetizer, and using immunology, pharmacology, as well as modern Chinese medicine to digest the physical characteristics of the Small tail Han sheep, was optimized on the basis of the number of screening tests. It is the aim of this study that finding the effect of deferent"Yangbao"addition to feed on the weight gain and immune ability for small tail Han sheep, and selecting "Yangbao" the best addition, so as to provide a scientific basis for small tail Han sheep's feed in the future.In this study, the fine Chinese herbal medicine-"Yangbao" was grinded, screened, blended and seal up. Twenty healthy weaning male and female Small Tail Sheep were used. Total sheep were grouped five groups (8 sheep per group, male and female are equal) by completely randomized method. Four groups were treated 0.5%, 1%, 1.5% and 2% of the Chinese herbal medicine-"Yangbao" for 60 days in the same conditions, respectively, and one group as control. The initial weight, final weight, average daily gain, average feed intake ,the ratio of consumed feed and weight gain were measured. At the same time, the thymus and spleen weight, thymus, spleen and blood index were measured after sheep were euthanized. SPSS11.0 software was used in analysis of data. The results are as follows:(1) The average daily gain had increased 31.23%, 53.00%, 61.57% and 61.48% in the Small Tail Sheep by 0.5%, 1%, 1.5% and 2% "Yangbao" medicine treatment, respectively. The dry matter feed / weight gain and feed / weight gain were reduced by 61.70% and 47.65% in the "Yangbao" medicine (added 1.5%) treated group.(2) "Yangbao" medicine was added in animal feed by 0.5%, 1%, 1.5% and 2%, respectively. The digestibility of NDF, ADF and dry matter had increased in the "Yangbao" medicine treated-Small Tail Sheep. Interestingly, the effect of "Yangbao" medicine (added 5%) treatment was significant difference (P <0.05).(3) The levels of blood urea nitrogen and alkaline content were significant difference after "Yangbao" medicine treatment, however, the level of serum lactate dehydrogenase had no significantly changed.(4) By treatment of "Yangbao" medicine (added 1.5%) in the Small Tail Han sheep, the levels of growth hormone, serum insulin-like growth factor, insulin-like growth hormone, triiodothyronine and thyroxine had significantly increased (P<0.05), and the levels of blood urea nitrogen and serum glucose had significantly decreased (P<0.05), whereas the level of serum lactate dehydrogenase had no significantly changed (P>0.05).In conclusion, with diet of "Yangbao" medicine to feed additives, the Small Tail Han sheep were significant weight gain, promotion of Small-tail Han sheep's blood and physical components, and activation of immune cells. Therefore, by "Yangbao" medicine treatment, the Small tail Han sheep gain weight and enhance the immune function.
