Vetiver grass (Vetiveria zizanioides (L.) Nash) was a member of perennial cluster grass in gramineae. It has strong adaptability, broad ecologyscope and strong resistance .It was thought that the most ideal grass in conserving the water soil and restoring the soil fertility atin home and abroadc. The study targeted at Vetiveria zizanioides. The division-level strains were desided by the growth rate of Vetiveria zizanioides, axillary, tiller, the changes in biomass and tillers of the Vetiveria zizanioides. Designed to reveal and explore its potential for growth and vegetative propagation rule, and recogning the role of the axillary bud at the course of tillering reproduction for perennial cluster grass, to enrich the theories of clonal propagation in bunch grass of gramineae. By studied at the difference of photosynthetic characters of Vetiveria zizanioides, provided scientific basis to the propagate, exploited and development of new varieties of Vetiveria zizanioides. The main results at follows:(1) At the period of June to October, Vetiveria zizanioides growed faster at June and October, significant different at 0.05 level to the other three months. The tillers of Vetiveria zizanioides were exuberant at this period, and it was higher at Septenber and October than the other three months. At the period, there was a peak and a trough for the number of the axillary buds; they were 24.9 and 4.2 respectively.(2) The dynamic state of axillary buds for the different age-classes of Vetiveria zizanioides. To the age of axillary buds of vetiver grass the first and second age had the absolute advantage; the oldest was the fourth age, six months after planted. The vitality of the axillary bud was highest at June (91%), to decrease at July and August, and droped to the lowest at August (61%).(3)The rate of biomass for the Vetiveria zizanioides stock plant was to decrease at the period of June to October. It was highest at June (41.7%) and lowest at October (0%). The rate of biomass for first age tiller was rise at the beginning and then decreased. It was highest at September (61.78%) and lowest at June (37.45%). To the rate of biomass for second age tiller, it was higher at October than the other four months, in which there were no changes. The rate of biomass for third age tiller were in rising trend, but were less increase.(4)The contents of chlorophyll to different age-classes of Vetiveria zizanioides at vigorous vegetation period, between second age and first, third age, there was significant different at 0.05 level , there was no significant different at 0.05 level to first and third age.(5)The curves of diurnal variation in Pn (net photosynthetic rate) had two peaks in different age-classes of Vetiveria zizanioides. The AQY(apparent quantum yield) were 0.028~0.032 mol·mol-1. between second age and first, third age, there was significant different at 0.05 level , there was no significant different at 0.05 level to first and third age.
