Codling moth is an important quarantine pest in fruit tree which belongs to Laspeyresia. Codling moth has a large feeding extent, chiefly doing harm to Apple, Pear, Chinese pear-leaved crab-apple, Apricot, Crabapple, Peach, and so on. The larva does harm directly. It eats pulp inside fruit causing rot and lost the edible value. This study combinated the investigation outside and experiment inside. On the basic of study in biological characteristics of codling moth, using seven host plant, such as Jonathan apple, Red Delicious apple, Zhangye number two apple, Chinese pear-leaved crab-apple, Apple-pear, Crisp pear, Apricot to research the effect on growth, development and reproduction of codling moth. The main study contents and result showed followlly:Combined with the former describe of codling moth, the morphologic charater of every stage has been observed carefully and the separation standard of larva in stars has been researched. Both the larval head capsules width and the length of the body can be the standard of instars separation.Combination of indoor rearing and field observations, in 2008 the overwintering codling moth adult emergence is not concentrated, it began in mid-April. The overwintering generation to reach the peak of adult emergence in mid-May, in early June to late June codling moth adult emergence did not intermittent. In early July being the first generation of adult was eclosion, the emergence period long duration and the peak appeared in late-July. In mid-August the number of male adult was trapped on a gradual reduction. A small amount the first and the second generation of the adult was eclosion from the mid-August to the end of September. The effects of seven host plants (Jonathan apple, Red Delicious apple, zhangye number two apple, Chinese pear-leaved crab-apple, apple-pear, crisp pear, Apricot) on the development and reproduction of codling moth were studied under the laboratory temperature. The results showed that there were significant differences in developmental duration of larval and pupa, survival rate, pupa weight and numbers of the eggs laid per female of the codling moth feeding on different host plants. The most favorable food in the seven host plants for the growth. Development and reproduction of the codling moth were Chinese pear-leaved crab-apple, crisp pear, Jonathan apple. The second were Red Delicious apple and zhangye number two apple. When the larvae were fed with Apricot and apple-pear the death rate of the larvae increased, the larval and pupa stages prolonged, the pupa weight decreased, female adult life shortened and the average fecundity. The age-specific life table of codling moth indicated that the trend index of codling moth population fed on Jonathan apple, Red Delicious apple, Zhangye number two apple, Chinese pear-leaved crab-apple and Crisp pear were more than one. Experiment population quantity was at the growth condition. The trend index of codling moth population fed on Apple-pear and Apricot were less than one. Next generation of population quantity decling.
