Evaluation On The Quality Of Silage Corn Feed In Luoyang Cattle Farms

The silage corn is the one of main crude feed of raising cow, its quality has an important influence on the cow's health and the milk output. Therefore,the quality evaluation for corn silage feed was essential to the cow's development. The paper studied the quality of silage corn of Luoyang cattle farms which main carried on the evaluation from the sense organ and the laboratory, and put forward the proposal and the opinion to some questions which found during investigation.The objective of the paper is to provide scientific basis for improving the quality of Luoyang Cattle farm's silage corn feed . The results were as follows:Experiments one: Choosed nine cow farms including three large-scale, three medium and three small-scale farms representatively in Luoyang and took silage corn to carry out the sense organ evaluation. The main several indexes were evaluated including the moisture content, pH value, the color, odor and texture, according to"the score table of silage corn straw",synthesized and analysized these indexes, so that their quality from different cow farms could be comparied.The result showed that the quality of silage corn for most of cow farms were good, the proportion of excellent group, good group, bad,group were 22.2%, 66.7% and 11%, respectively.Experiments two: Took the sample to carry on the laboratory evaluation. The several indexes were analysized including the moisture content, the pH value, the ammonia nitrogen content and organic acid which were ethanoic acid, propionic acid, butyric acid, lactic acid,and assessed the fermentation situation of different silage feed. The content of free ammonium (NH+) was measured which was the ratio between ammoniacal nitrogen and total nitrogen to assess the protein's degree of damage. Determined the chloride, sulfate simultaneously, the free ammonium, chloride and sulfate content were determined to evaluate their pollution content. The result indicated that the first group and the sixth group were bad and excellent, respectively, other groups were normal.According to the two experiments, the quality of most of silage corn in Luoyang Cattle farm was good, but there were some problems need to be improved, for instance: most of cattle farms still used common corn and the silage technology need to be improved.
