Color rice is a varieties of rice belongs to function rice. Except rich in nutrients like those ordinary rice, it also contains some nutrition which can regulate the physiological functions and some special ingredients play and balance role in human body such as flavonoids, anthocyanins, alkaloids, cariac glycosides and other physiological active substances. Colored rice has a long cultivation history and was widely distribute in the world. Because of it's superior nutritional quality and physiological functions, the genetic improvement and breeding work become more important to people, but some inherent flaws of colored rice still restricting it's further development and utilization. At the same time, the formation mechanism of seed coat color and genetic characteristics of academic research has become a hot spot. In this paper, we mostly covered the nutritional value of germplasm and molecular mechanism of colored rice, combines with its pigment synthesis mechanism to introduce the progress in related research work.Lc is a member of the maize R gene family of myc-like transcription activators which are responsible for expression of anthocyanins in maize. Ectopic expression of Lc gene caused enhanced levels of flavonoid in several plants such as. In this study, we constructed an expression vector pCAMBIA1301-Gt1-Lc which didn't have the signal peptide sequence of Gt1 promoter cloning from rice seed specific gluten Gt1(S) gene 5.3kb promoter, along with an vector kept in this lab early pCAMBIA1301-Gt1(S)-Lc transferred to conventional rice and purple rice. This was the first time to transferred in purple rice. After construction of expression vector and successfully obtained a total number of 85 four types of genetically modified.The PCR results of integration of the transgene showed that Lc genes have been integrated into the conventional rice and purple rice genome. Most of the transgenic rice kernels changed in color. The RT-PCR analysis showed that Lc gene can be expressed in inmatured kernels, at the same time, some gene expression associated with flavonoid synthesis shows different degree. In the conventional rice transgenic plants (C17) inmatured seeds, PAL, CHS, F3'H expression increased than the wild control; F3H and DFR expression in the control did not increased, and in transgenic plants of the expression. Transgenic plants in purple rice (P19) inmatured seeds, PAL, CHS, ANS, F3'H expression increase more than the control; LAR is not expressed in control, but in transgenic plants of the expression. Purple rice to conventional rice and the flavonoid content of transgenic rice results show that the flavonoid content of different degree, conventional rice transformation C17 total flavonoid content increased fourfold while the rice length, width, height, grain weight and other agronomic traits was not much lower than control material.
