Study On The Culture Techniques Of Spinibarbs (Barbodes Caldwelli) In Ponds And Cages

Spinibarb(Barbodes caldwelli) is an important commercial fish in southern Jiangxi Province.For improving culture techniques of spinibarb,a survey was carried out to investigate the effect of stocking size and stocking density of juvenile spinibarb on its growth performance,survival rate,feed conversion rate,yield and economic benefit of pond culture and cage culture.The main results show as follow..1.In pond culture:The juvenile spinibarb of 20 g/ind.,75 g/ind,and 100 g/ind.were stocked in 9 ponds(about 3000m~2 for each with water depth of 1.5～1.8m) with density of 800 ind./667m~2,1000 ind./667m~2 and 1200 ind./667m~2,respectively.The barbs were fed with diet contain 32.2%crude protein for 8months.The survival rates were affected slightly by the stocking density,but increased significantly with stocking size.Both the stocking size and density affected slightly on feed conversion rate but greatly on growth performance,yield and economic benefit.In pond culture,a stocking size of 100 g/ind. and density of 1000 ind./667m~2 can obtain the best benefit(net income of￥5016 yuan/667m~2 and input-output ratio of 1:1.70).2.In cage culture:spinibarb of 75 g/ind.,100 g/ind,and 150 g/ind,was stocked in 9 cages(4 m×4 m×3 m,3 cm mesh) with density of 50 ind./m~2,70 ind./m~2 and 90 ind./m~2, respectively.Barbs were fed with the same diet for 11 months.The survival rates were 93.8%～98.1%and affected slightly by the stocking density and stocking size.The stocking size and density affected slightly on feed conversion rate but obviously on growth performance,yield and economic benefit.In cage culture,a stocking size of 150 g/ind,and density of 70 ind./m~2 can obtain the best benefit(net income of￥526 yuan/667m~2 and input-output ratio of 1:1.73).In conclusion,appropriate stocking size and density of spinibarb are 100 g/ind.,1000 ind./667m~2 for pond culture and 150 g/ind.,70 ind./m~2 for cage culture,respectively.
