Japanese scallop (Mizuhopecten yessoensis) belongs to Mollusca, Lamellibranchia, Pterimorphia, Pterioida, Pectinidae, and Mizuhopecten. Japanese scallop has become a main aquaculture scallop in the coast of northern China. In the present study, a cDNA library from Japanese scallop was constructed and EST analysis was performed. The cDNA library was obtained with the average inserts size about 2 kb. 960 colonies were randomly picked from the cDNA library and sequenced from the 5′-end of the cDNAs using a T7 universal primer, total 928 ESTs including contigs sequnence were searched. Clustered with Phrap program, 105 contigs and 462 singletons were obtained from Japanese scallop (Mizuhopecten yessoensis) ESTs. The average sequence length was 774 bp.Blast analysis showed that in Japanese scallop (Mizuhopecten yessoensis) ESTs, 267 sequnences have a high homology with some genes in GenBank (E
