We found a short growth period mutant sgp(t)in Rice. The previous results of genetic analysis and gene fine mapping showed that the early heading of sgp(t) is governed by a semi-dominant mutant gene. SGP(t)gene may be a new gene controlling rice growth period. On the basis of the previous observation, we constructed F2 segregation populations derived from the cross sgp(t)/02428 for SGP(t)gene fine mapping. SGP(t) was located between marker CAPS023 and marker N13 with F2 segregation populations derived from the cross sgp(t)/02428. Marker CAPS023 located in clone AP004989, and marker N13 located in clone AP003723. The two marker covered a physical distance of 224.4kb. Because of the poor polymorphism between 02428 and sgp(t), further mapping was continued with F2 segregation populations derived from the cross sgp(t)/9311. SGP(t)was located between marker CAPS072 and marker N51. Both makers located in clone AP004989, within 53.0kb region. This study laid a foundation for further determining candidate gene, functional characterization and expression analysis of gene.
