With the rapid development of mushroom industry, the quality of edible fungi has become an issue concerned by many people. In the process of mushroom cultivation, the damage caused by pests especially mites is increasing year by year, which results in the reduction of quality and the decrease of production and leads to great economic losses. To get a clear view of the status of mushroom mites in Fujian province, we conducted an investigation in the main producing areas in the province. Bagged mushroom and top layer 1-5 cm of mushroom bed were collected and brought to the lab for examination. Mites were extracted by means of Berlese funnels and then identified. This research will provide a theoretical basis to mushroom pest control and to the biology study and application of the predatory mites as well. The main results are as follows:1 All of mites belonged to 43 species, 36 genera, 21 families and 3 orders after being indentificated. 12 species, 11 genera, 9 families belonged to Trombidiformes; 19 species, 15 genera, 8 families belonged to Mesostigmata; and 12 species, 10 genera, 4 families belonged to Sarcoptiformes. 15 species, 7 families were pest mites, Acaridae, Histiostomatidae and Pygmephoridae, such as Acarus siro, sancassania oudemansi, Tyrophagus communis, Tyrophagus putrescentiae, Histiostoma feroniarum were commonly. The mites of Acaridae were widespread in Fujian, 75% tested positive. Predatory mite belonged to 28 species, 14 families, mainly about Ascidae, Laelapidae, Macrochelidae, Parasitidae mites, for example, Lasioseius sugawarai, Hypoaspis chianensis, Stratiolaelaps scimitus, Macrocheles muscaedomesticae and Eugamasus consanguineous. 19 species, 17 genera, 10 families were the new records of mushroom mite in China; 38 species, 31 genera, 16 families were the new records of mushroom mite in Fujian; Iphidonopsis genus was the new record of mite in China; Blattisocius daci and Stratiolaelaps scimitus were the new mite species for our Country.2 Mites were collected in the survey of 16 mushroom production bases. 8 species of mushroom were collected in the Fuzhou and mites about 24 species,16 families were found; 5 mushroom hostes were investigated in the Zhangzhou, and mites about 9 species, 6 families were found; 3 mushroom hostes were investigated in the Ningde, and mites about 8 species, 5 families were found; 1 mushroom hostes were investigated in the Nanping, and mites about 6 species, 4 families were found; 3 mushroom hostes were investigated in the Longyan, and mites about 4 species, 3 families were found.3 All of the 17 mushroom hostes were found mites, 100% tested positive. 26 species of mites of 11 families were found on Agrocybe cylindracea, which was the most; 10 species of mites of 8 families were found on Pleurotus geesteranus; 9 species of mites of 8 families were found on Ganoderma lucidum; 9 species of mites of 7 families were found on Auricularia polytricha; 8 species of mites of 7 families were found on Lentinus edodes; 6 species of mites of 6 families were found on Auricularia auricular; 6 species of mites of 5 families were found on Pleuvotus diamor; 5 species of mites of 5 families were found on Tremella fuciformis; 4 species of mites of 3 families were found on Hypsizigus marmoreus; 3 species of mites of 3 families were found on Agaricus Bisporus; only one or two species on the other hostes which were the lest.4 For the study on the morphology about individual development of the mite, all of the morphogram of Lasioseius sugawarai in each state were drawn and their important morphological features were described. During the development of L. sugawarai, the color and ossification was deepen gradually, size was increasing from larva to imago. No formed dorsal plate in Larva, while in protonymph, dorsal plate was initiative forming, and to the deutonymph, it was formed. The sternal plate, genital plate and ventri-anal plate was formed independently. In larva, subcapitulum only have 2 pairs of hypostomal seta, no basirostral seta, while, in protonymph, subcapitulum have 3 pairs of hypostomal seta and 1 pair of basirostral seta. From larva to imago, the number of denticle on digitus fixus increased from 9 to 11-13 . Peritrematal canal was extending forward gradually in the development process, it was notability in deutonymph, to the front of legâ… coax. Palpus seta was increasing from trochanter to tarsus. Barely three pairs of leg in larva.
