The purpose of this research is to elucidate the developmental regulation of the concentrations of FSH, LH and PRL in serum of Zi geese during the developmental and egg-laying stages and the expression of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH) and prolactin (PRL) mRNA in pituitaries and their corresponding receptors mRNA in ovaries. It revealed the corresponding rules of FSH, LH and PRL gene and ovarian receptor gene mRNA expression for Further understanding of ovarian receptors in FSH, LH and PRL responsiveness. The expression of FSH, LH and PRL mRNA in pituitaries and their receptors mRNA in ovaries were accessed by quantitative real-time (qRT-PCR) at 1 day and 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 and 8 months of age (n= 6, respectively). The concentrations of FSH, LH and PRL in serum were also examined by using electrochemiluminescence. The results showed that the concentrations of FSH and LH increased fluctuatly from the newborn to 8 months old (P> 0.05). The concentration of PRL was only examined in one-day-old Zi geese, which was 0.037 mIU/mL. The level of expression of FSH and LH mRNA in pituitaries and their receptors mRNA in ovaries increased fluctuantly until egg-laying stage. The level of expression of FSH, follicle stimulating hormone receptor (FSHR), LH and luteinizing hormone (LHR) mRNA increased factuantly as months of age passed. It showed an upward trend after sexual maturation, continuing into the egg-laying period. The level of expression of FSH, FSHR, LH and LHR mRNA during egg-laying period differed significantly from that before sexual maturation of each month-old goose (P< 0.05). The level of expression of PRL and prolactin (PRLR) mRNA decreased fluctuantly from 1 to 4-month-old,and increased after sexual maturation. The amount of expression of PRL and PRLR mRNA from 1 to 7-month-old geese were all less than that of 1-day-old geese (P> 0.05). The level of expression of PRL and PRLR mRNA at 8-month-old was higher than that of 1-day-old (P> 0.05), and it was extremely higher than that of 1 to 7-month-old (P< 0.01). The correlation analysis was respectively conducted between concentrations of three hormones in serum and related genes in pituitary and receptor gene expression in ovarian to show that the pituitary hormone gene, and ovarian hormone receptor gene were strong correlation(r2>0.9).The results showed that the response ability of the ovary to FSH and LH in the process of development and ovulation was significant, and FSH and LH play positive role to regulate ovarian development. The PRL gene and the expression of its receptor gene shows that PRL in the ovary during development is not yet proven to be promoted.
