Analysis On Shade-Enduring Of Several Ornamental Pepper Cultivars

We trated with the peppers under the illumination intensity of 223μmol·m-2·s-1,120μmol·m-2·s-1,16μmol·m-2·s-1和7μmol·m-2·s-1(CK436μmol·m- 2·s-1) in the research.Five ornamental peppers(GS2,GS3,GS3-1,GS3-2,GS4) and a control edible pepper (P101) were treated with shading and their plant mortality rate were preliminarily investigated . Ornamental peppers GS2, GS3-1 and control P101 were selected as experimental materials. Shading treatment was carried out for selected cultivars at seeding stage of flower and fruiting, and their changes of external morphology, ornamental characters, physiological and biochemical characters was investigated. The results indicated that:1.Compared with full sunlight,there were no significant differences in leaf width, leaf length, leaf number and stem diameter of GS3-1 and P101 under different process at the seedling stage, but leaf width of GS2 existed significant difference.Plant height and plant diameter of P101 descend with the decrease of light intensity. For ornamental pepper GS3-1 and GS2, Plant height and plant diameter reach the climax at intensity of 223μmol·m-2·s-1.2.POD enzyme activity, total soluble sugar of three experimental cultivars fall unified with the enhancement of light intensity and the differences were significant. While MDA content swelled consistently and the differences were also significant. The soluble protein of GS3-1 and GS2 went down when shading strengthen. Whereas, control cultivar P101 represented the trend of rise first and reduce later. Chlorophyll relative content of GS3-1 and control P101 showed the curve of diminution followed by going up. While GS2 exhibited the change of wax with downwards behind.3.At the seeding stage, phyto-mass increment of three experimental cultivars improves with the strengthening of light intensity. Fresh weight and dry weight of both aerial part and subterranean part expressed the same trend of leveling down.4.At the flowering stage, morphological indexes of three experimental cultivars treated with 4 shading patterns showed increase comparison to seeding stage, and difference were significant with comparison to control light intensity. The number of flower buds and apical branches of P101 and GS3-1 were at the top under control light intensity. All the ornamental characters indexes of P101 were not significantly different under the same control light intensity. The number of flower buds and apical branches of GS2 reached the peak at 223μmol·m-2·s-1. 5.At the fruiting stage and with the weakening of light intensity, the changing degree of leaf width, leaf length, leaf number of the three experimental cultivars was slower. Leaf number, plant height, plant diameter of control P101 decrease gradually. The same three indexes of GS2 and GS3-1 show the trend of rising first and followed by falling later with the climax at 223μmol·m-2·s-1. The indices of ornamental characters such as the number of flower bud, branches and secondary branches was more than the contrast. It is suggested that the ornamental characters of the two ornamental peppers had an advantage over P101.6. At the fruiting stage, MDA and chlorophyll relative content, soluble sugar contents were on the rise comparing with seeding stage. The POD enzyme activity change insignificantly. The soluble protein was on the trend of decrease.Comprehensive analysis of research result above, the light intensity was more than 223μmol·m-2·s-1 that was suitable for the growth and development of ornamental pepper.The shade-enduring order of ornamental pepper and edible pepper was: GS3-1>GS2>P101.
