The field resistance of 34 rice cultivars against false smut were tested by the method of natural inducing plus artificial supplementary inoculating, the results showed that among the 34 rice cultivars, no cultivar was high resistant,9 cultivar were resistant,10 cultivars were medium resistant,11 cultivars were medium susceptible,3 cultivars were susceptible, and 1 cultiva was high susceptible. Most of 34 rice cultivars were between resistant and medium susceptible. On the whole, the resistance to false smut is weak.In the basis of identification of data, selection of resistant, medium resistant and high susceptible rice varieties, inoculated with inoculum to ear in booting stage, it's the first study on substance of rice resistance to false smut of different resistant rice cultivars in China. The results showed that:the content of MDA, activities of POD, PPO, PAL, APX and CAT were all important mechanisms of rice resistance to false smut. Highly susceptible MDA was significantly increased, while MDA content of resistant varieties of nearly invariably, MDA content increased related to lipid peroxidation, MDA content stability was conducive to false smut resistance, suggesting that the resistance of different rice varieties was closely related with MDA con(?)ent. CAT activity in the incompatibility decreased, CAT activity of resistant rice varieties decreased after inoculation, CAT activity of susceptible variety increased after inoculation, suggesting that the resistance of different rice varieties is closely related with CAT activity. Lignin and phytoalexin increased with POD and PAL activity increased, PPO activity increased conducive to oxidation of phenolic compounds into quinones, on the inhibition of invasion of pathogenic bacteria, POD, PAL and PPO activity of resistant varieties increased after inoculation, POD, PAL and PPO activity of susceptible changed not significantly after ivaccination, this indicates that the resistance was closely related to POD, PPO and PAL activity. After inoculation, SOD activity had no significant difference in different resistant rice cultivars, showed that the activity of SOD had nothing to do with the false smut resistance. Different cultivars performed differently in various biochemical factors.
