Meloidae is an important insect resource for its economic value. We investigated Meloidae of Hebei province in this paper, observed and investigated the biological characteristic and body using of the ascendant species- Epicauta chinensis (Laporte, 1840). The dissertation completed in more than thirty thousand characters. Main achievements obtained as followings:1. 25 species in 9 genera from Hebei province are reported based on specimens and the literature data in Hebei University. Among of them, 4 species are recorded for the first time to the province, they are Mylabris (Chalcabris) speciosa (Pallas, 1781), Megatrachelus politus (Gebler, 1832), Stenoria (Stenoria) fasciata (Faldermann, 1835) and Zonitis fortuccii Fairmaire, 1887. Key to both genera and species, photographs of adult are provided. The available data on the geographical distribution are given.2. Researched and analysed the common living behaviour, feeding habit, copulation behaviour ,oviposit behaviour ,hatching, preying eggs of Locusta migratoria manilensis and life history of Epicauta chinensis through the observing out of the door and the feeding indoor.3. Adult nourishment component of Epicauta chinensis was determined in this research report,it has the characters of high protein, low fat and abundant trace elements.4. Used the Acid-alkali Method to extract chitin and chitosan from the body wall of the adults of Epicauta chinensis ,and finded a suitable way to extract chitin and chitosan based on the experiment.
