The golden apple snail(Pomacea canaliculata) has been influencing agricultural yield, ecology and disease dissemination as a typical invading creature. In recent years, it is consuming a wider variety of plant species along with its scattering, especially on rice, innumerous lose were made worldwide. Domestically, the golden apple snail in paddy has been targeted as a fatal pest. Thus, research on controlling the golden apple snail is a forthcoming and pivotal program.This research focuses on the hot study of using biological technology to prevent and control the apple snails. The rice-duck integrated farming experiment has been tested in Liuyang and Zixing from April to October in 2009. This experiment sets three different levels for different kinds and number of ducks to have three repeated trials. And this experiment focuses on the effect of rice-duck integrated farming on the apple snails. Meanwhile, it integrates the effect on rice diseases, insects, weeds and paddy yield. Results show that:Compared with CK, rice-duck integrated farming was efficient in controlling the apple snail with efficiencies of 90% and more, and got better efficiency by 30%-35% than chemical treatment; Jingding duck (smaller) got better efficiency (above 94%) than Liuyang and Zixing duck (larger) with efficiencies between 87%-93% when they were treated in same quantity condition; rice-duck integrated farming also had positive effects on controlling other diseases, pests and weeds, especially in controlling rice planthoppers and weeds (except Echinochloa crusgalli and Leptochloa chinensis); Compared with CK, duck breeding plots had more yield by 25-50 kg/667m2, and 10-20kg/667m2 more than chemical controlling plots. Comprehensively, rice-duck integrated farming should choose the duck which has small body and big appetite, the recommendation density of duck breeding should be 12/667m2 or so.Moreover, the control of golden apple snails in agricultural industry mainly concentrates on simple chemical control. Three pesticides considered to be efficient, bargain, and with a low residue were screened out to control the apple snails of paddy field in Liuyang from August to October in 2009. Results showed that:control efficiency against the apple snail is 45% Fentin Acetate WP (95%)>50% Niclosamide ethanolamine WP (85%)>5% Meta GF (80%).5% Meta GF had significant higher persistence with a increasing effective tendency in a certain duration, and it had 25% control efficiency after 21d treatment yet.45% Fentin Acetate WP and 50% Niclosamide ethanolamine WP had best control efficiency after 3d treatment. Compared with CK, the chemical controlling plots had more yield by 20-50 kg /667m2.45% Fentin Acetate WP was recommended in paddy field with dense golden apple snail, and suggested ratio was 45g/667 m2.5% Meta GF was recommended in paddy field with low density golden apple snail but dense around on purpose of prevention, and suggested ratio was 400g/667 m2.
