| The natural conditions like sea breeze, storm surges, soil, climate, and so on, restrict the survival and growth of many tree species. How to choose the superior tree species which will be suitable for the coastal zones, to resist barren, salt-alkali, salt spray and strong wind, is the key issues to resolve and study on the construction of the coastal protection forests. This paper show the research on several tree species of the coastal protection forests from inside and outside county, which are selected on Xiangshan area's climate and site type, and planted in the rocky coast, muddy coast and beach. The results show that Pinus elliottii which have the highest survival rates, fastest growth and best the way corp is growing, are the superior tree species which are suitable for rocky coast and hilly area. The broad-leaved tree species like Cinnamomum japonicum Sieb, Liquidambar formosana, Schima superba Gardn et Champ, and so on, should be planted in relative deep soil with faster growth's trees to build a mixed forest, and enhance the management on Tending of young growth. The five tree species of Casuarina spp, Quercus virginiana, Nerium indicum Mill, Eucalyptus dunnii, and Hibiscus hamabo sieb et zucc, which have the stronger salt-alkali resistance, are the superior tree species that are suitable for muddy coast. The tree species of Kandelia candel, Myoporum bontioides, Casuarina spp, and so on, aren't suitable for the beaches and flats that are the outer edge along the coastline to grow because of the periodic long-term sea water immersion, low temperature freezing, the soil with high salt-alkali, heavy viscosity, and poor ventilation property, and so on. Although Hibiscus hamabo sieb et zucc and Tamarix chinensis Lour have the stronger salt-alkali resistance and the sea water resistance, they need to do a further study to build a sub-mangroves. |
