This paper did the continuous positional sampling in Yuxi, analyzed aroma substances of tobacco with GC/MS and did the data mining with computer software in order to compare the divergence of aroma quantity in different production areas, varieties, positions and curing process and also study the relevance to the ecological environment. The purpose of this research is to exploit approaches to increase the quantity of aroma in tobacco, to create the foundation which helps evaluate aroma styles and to improve the production technologies and the competition of tobacco commodities. The main conclusions are as following:1. Before the curing process, the amount of plastid pigments degraded products, browning reaction products, cembranoids degraded products, aroma aminophenol degraded products and the other neutral aroma products in top leaves were higher than that in middle leaves and bottom leaves. Besides, the amount of plastid pigments degraded products and browning reaction products in middle leaves were higher than that in bottom leaves and the differences of other components in middle leaves and bottom leaves were not obvious. After the curing process, the amount of plastid pigments degraded products, browning reaction products, cembranoids degraded products, aroma aminophenol degraded products and other neutral aroma products in top leaves were higher than that in middle leaves and bottom leaves. The amount of browning reaction products, aroma aminophenol degraded products and Aldehydes in other neutral aroma products in bottom leaves were higher than that in middle leaves and the differences of plastid pigments degraded products, cembranoids degraded products and Ketones in other neutral aroma products in middle leaves and bottom leaves were not obvious.2. After analyzed the variety K326 both in paddy field and dried field in different planting areas, it was found that the amount of plastid pigments degraded products, browning reaction products, aroma aminophenol degraded products and other neutral aroma products and the total amount of neutral aroma products in paddy field were higher than that in dried field, except of Malt Oxazine. However, the divergences in different planting areas but same type of field were more obvious.3. The amount of different neutral aroma substances in tobacco diverged according to the increasing latitudes and reached highest amount between 1595m and 1700m. Though the different varieties showed the relatively same pattern, the sensitiveness to the latitude of different varieties were not the same that compared with G28, K326 was more sensitive to latitude and its divergence of the neutral aroma substances in high latitude was bigger.
