Abstract/Summary:
Objective: To study the effects of the contrast mediums injected into subarachnoid cavity on the cerebral vasospasm in rabbits Methods: Forty male and female rabbits weighting 2.$-3kg were used in the experiment. They were randomly divided into five groups, of which each had 8 animals. Control group(n=8) One milliliter of cerebrospinal(CSF) was released from the cerebello-medullary cistern, which had been successfully punctured through occipito-atloid gap, and then lml saline (about 20) was injected into the cistern in each of the 8 animals. The blood flow velocity(BFV) of the intracranial internal carotid artery (ICA) was determined by 3D-TCD immediately,3rd and 7th day after the operation. The 3D-TCD examination was performed through a hole (diameter, about 0.8cm) which had been made before on the parietal bone in each of the rabbits. DSA was done after the last 3D-TCD examination and then the samples of intracranial LCA and the middle cerebral arteries (MCA) were taken for their pathological examination in 2 of the 8 animals. The group A, B and C were handled by the method similar to the contral group. But the group A ,B and C received injection with lmI omnipaque (about 20C ) lml 75% meglumine-dirizoate (about 20 C ) 0.5ml omnipaque plus 0.5 ml nonheparinized autologus arterial blood respectively instead of 1 ml saline in the control group into cerebello-medullary cistern .Group D: One milliliter of nonheparinized autologus arterial blood was injected into the cistern after releasing 1 ml CSF and the BFV of the intracranial ICA was determined by 3D-TCD immediately,3rd day after the operation in each animal of the group. Then 1 ml omnipaque was reinjected into the cistern and the same examination with 3D-TCD performed immediately,3rd and 7th day after reinjection. The other experimental treatments were similar to the control group. Result: 1 .The BFVs of intracranial ICA were 16.00 ?2.1 4cm/s, 16.37 ? 1.78 cm/s,16.50?1.69 cm/s in the control group; 16.87?.53 cmls,l7.00? 1.69 crr?s,16.13?.23 cm/s in the group A; 16.25?.12 cm/s 15 88?1.25 cm/s 16 00?.23 cm/s in the group B; 1600?51 cm/s 16 25?.25 cm/s 15 87 ?1.89 cm/s in the group C respectively immediately,3rd and 7th day after the operation.. The BFVs at every time point in each of these groups were not significance difference (p >0.05) from each other. No significance difference (p >0.05) between the BFVs of the control group and each experimental group (excluding the group D) at corresponding time. The BFVs of intracranial ICA in the group D were 16.25?.83 cm/s, 27.50?.39 cm/s respectively immediately, 3rd day after the injection of nonheparinized autologus arterial blood and the difference between both of them were significance (p
