Objective To investigate the preventive and treatment method and the injury mechanism to renal function in animals with obstructive jaundice. Methods 36 out of 48 New Zealand rabbits which underwent common bile duct ligation were randomized into three groups: internal drainage group(group A), external drainage group(group B),common bile duct ligation group (group C), the rest rabbits were sham operation group (group D, unligated). The content of endotoxin(ETX), endothelin(ET), Creatinine(Cr), Urea in blood in different time were detected and the correlations of them were compared. R suits With the extension of obstructive jaundice, the content of ETX, ET, Cr,Urea increased continuously, but the content of Cr, Urea decreased after drainage, especially for internal drainage, there are positive correlations among ETX, ET and Cr, Urea. Conclusions Obstruction of biliary tract will not only lead to the increase of ETX, FT of experimental animals, but also result in renal dysfunction. Renal function will be improved after internal drainage, while external drainage can not improve it significantly, On the contrary, external drainage can lead to electrolytes disorder and has no advantage on prognosis.
