The Histomorphologic Study of the Effect of BuGu Capsule on the Osseointegration of Dental ImplantsMajor: Orthopaedics and Traumatology of TCM Postgraduate: Li Nan Tutor: Wang HemingABSTRACTPurpose: To investigate the mechanism of the effect of BuGu Capsule(BGC) on osseointegration auci provide data for the practical use of BGC , by measuring related index of the influence of BGC on the dental implant osseointegration.Method: A randomized, controlled experiment was conducted. 20 adult dogs were divided two groups: experimented group and controlled group. Three left maxillofacial tooth were pulled out of all dogs, and were implanted with three titanium plast. The dogs of experimental group were ingested with BGC. The implauied maxillofacial part were sampled to observe the changes of implant-bone interface immediately 1,2,4,8,12 week after the surgery. Results :﹊mmunohistochemistry: the level of BMP of experimental group is statistically significantly higher than that of controlled group the first week after surgery; ﹖he histomorphometry: the osteoblast index(OBI) after the first week and the mineral apposition rate(MAR) is significantly higher hi the experiment group than those of controlled group, the osseointegration index(OI) increased significantly compared with the controlled group, and the area of bone defect decreased significantly in the experimental group; ﹉istologic observation: the collagen fibres appeared in bundles, paralleled to each other and the increases of calcium and phosphorus is statistically significant compared with those of the controlled group; @ roentgenologic assessment: the changes of bone defect and of the area of new formed bone is superior to those of controlled group. Conclusion: BGC can promote the osseointegration of oral maxillofacial implants, the effect of BGC on the osseointegration is achieved by the following mechanism: to increase the absorption of swollen; to induce the initial release and congregation of BMP and increase the concentration of BMP on the implant-bone interface; to increase the number and activity of osteoblast, therefore to promote the synthesis of bone matrix; to increase the MAR and deposition of calcium and phosphorus on the collager surface.
