Objective: To summarize and analysis the difference primary carcinoma of the gallbladder neck (PGCN) from general primary gallbladder carcinoma (PGC) in clinical behave and operative fashion. Method: We studied retrospectively 10 patients with primary carcinoma of the gallbladder neck from 1990 to 2000. Results: These 10 patients of PGCN amounted to 6.2 percent out of 162 cases of primary gallbladder carcinoma with operation. The jaundice was found in 70% (7/10) of the patients with PGCN. The operative resection rate and radical resection rate were 100% (10/10) and 60% (6/10) respectively. Conclusion: The early diagnosis of primary carcinoma of the gallbladder neck was more difficulty than PGC's. More jaundice was found in PGCN, but it had different mechanism from general PGC. The active operation methods can be used in PGCN.
