Objective: To study the effects of radiation of synchrotron produced 0.28kev carbon k soft X-ray and 0.52kev oxygen k soft X-ray on the plasmid PBK-CMV DNA with 60CO-y ray as reference radiation. Methods: By using a special designed SijN* sample chamber plasmid PBK-CMV DNA was exposured to CK OK soft X-ray in water solution and then transformed into the E. Coli XL 1-Blue. The change of average biology survival rates and mutation frequency were investigated as the endpoints to study the radiation effects of CK^ OK soft X-ray on the plasmid PBK-CMV DNA.Result: The ability of CK^ OK soft X-ray leading to the decrease of average biological survival rates of plasmid PBK-CMV DNA was 3.7 and 3.14 times as that of 60CO-y ray respectively. Mutation frequency of plasmid PBK-CMV DNA caused by CK, OK soft X-ray was twice as that of by 60CO-y ray .At same time ,the data showed CK softX-ray had a better effect than OK soft X-ray Conclusion: The experiment result show the average biological survival rates of CK- OK softX-ray are more three times less than that of 60CO-y ray. The mutation frequence of CK, OK soft X-ray are twice higher than 60CO-y ray. The biological effects of CK soft X-ray is more effective than that of OK soft X-ray.
