Menopause is the most important stage in the women's life, and it occupies about half of the lifetime. With the function of the ovary stopping, estrogens metabolism is abnormal, the concentrations of serum Cholesterol, Low density lipoprotein and High density lipoprotein lowered, which caused series of estrogen-related diseases. Such as coronary heart disease (CHD), osteoporosis, obesity, hypercholesteromia and climacteric symptom. It is threatening the life qualities of menopausal women. The epidemiology shows that CHD is the first-class murderer to healthy menopausal women and the major factor of women death. Lots of investigations said that there is insulin resistance phenomenon for postmenopausal women, then the growth of body weight, rises of cholesterol and LDL. All of these increase the frequence of CHD. At present, the estrogen replacement therapy is the most common method to menopausal symptoms and estrogen-related disease. Although there is worldwide history, because of its many deleterious effects such as endomotrial hyperplasia and neoplasia, it makes postmenopausal women so fearful that reject this therapy. The identification of an alternative agent, which has the beneficial effects of estrogens but has low cancer risk and side effects, would, therefore, be of considerable value. It is reported that in Asia, especial Japan, found less CHD risk in postmenopausal women than Western women. Through analyzing the results, it is possible that the low frequence is correlated to soybean diet. The efficient ingredient is the Soy Isoflavones, a natural phytoestrogen.Planted-derived estrogens are plant substances that are structurally or functionally similar to estrodiol-17β, and it can bind estrogenic receptor weakly. So it owns the estrogenic effect and becomes the hot topic in the world. Phytoestrogens exist the plants widely, they concluded: Isoflavone, Coumestrol and. Lignans. In particular, the soy isoflavone is the major one and also is the more frequent one that is researched recent years. Soy isoflavone can correct the menopausal symptoms, cancer, osteoporosis and CHD. Because lipids metabolism is close relative to the CHD, exploring the hypocholesterol is the entrance of protecting CHD. Soy isoflavone contains Genistein, Daidzein and their Glycoside. What body can absorb and use is their aglycone. They are Genistein and Daidzein. This object choosesthe genistein, daidzein and their glycoside as the experimental medicine.Followed the physiological character in postmenopausal women, we selected the ovariectomized rat model which imitates the pathological change of postmenopausal women, observed effects of daidzein, genistein and their extracted mixture (containing glycosides) on energy, cholesterol and triglyceride metabolism in ovariectomized rats. At the meantime, it compared the influence between soy isoflavone and estrogen on the body. This aim of the experiment is that identifying the effects on lipids and energy, compared the differences of two ingredients, and by the morphological change of endometrium and vagina prove that soy isoflavone is safe and efficient. In this study, we use the female Wistar rats. They are divided 12 groups: sham-operated group, ovx group, estrogen-treated group, high, medium, low-dose daidzein group, high, medium, low-dose genistein group, and high, medium, low-dose total flavoide. Estrogen-treated is the positive controlled group. Except the sham-group, others group bilaterial ovaries. All rats were given orally using a stomach tube for 12 weeks. This study concluded 4 parts as follow:1 To investigate the effects of soybean extract, aglycone D and G on energy metabolism of ovx rats.2 To observe their effect on cholesterol metabolism of ovx rats, and discuss the mechanisms.3 To observe their effect on triglyceride metabolism of ovx rats, and discuss the relationship of triglyceride and fatty liver.4 To observe their effect on uterine and vagina of ovx rats, and compare the degree in estrogen and two aglycones. The results show that t...
