| For discussing the pathogenesis and treatment principle of depression, through treating 110 cases of depression in clinic, we assess the clinical therapeutic effect of the acupuncture therapy of regulating mental activities and smoothing the liver compared with traditional acupuncture therapy and western medicine in the study, and discover the mechanism of the acupuncture therapy of regulating mental activities and smoothing the liver with neurotransmitter, neuroendocrine-immunoregulatory network and concerned laboratory markers of specific immunity in treating depression.MethodsWe randomly group the 110 cases of depression into the group of regulating mental activities and smoothing the liver (50 cases), traditional acupuncture therapy control (30 cases) and western medicine control (30 cases), and assess the three inventories, namely HRSD, SDS and SCL-90, before and after treatment. In addition we test the quantity of adrenocorticotrophic hormone,cortisol,5-hydroxytryptamine,interleukin one beat and interleukin two in blood with RIA and ELISA. The results are analysed with statistical methods.Results1.The brain takes charge of mental activities and the liver smoothes and regulates the flow of vital energy and blood. The brain and the liver are the body of regulating the emotive changes. So we advance the pathogenesis of depression is that "the mental activities are disorder and the liver is dysfunction", which is based on the physiological functions of the brain and liver and the treatment principle is to regulate mental activities and smooth the liver, which breaches the traditional treatment principle of depression from the heart, liver and spleen.2.We establish the acupuncture therapy of regulating mental activities and smoothing the liver, stipulate acupuncture prescription and define the manipulative quantity, so it is important to regulate mental activities and Baihui and Fengfu are the main acupoints.3.The acupuncture therapy of regulating mental activities and smoothing the liver treats 49 cases of depression, 30 cases are cured, 10 cases accept significant effect and 4 cases have effect. The total effective rate is 98.0%, traditional acupuncture therapy control and western medicine control respectively show a total effective rate of 89.7% and 95.1%. The scores of HRSD, SDS and SCL-90 in the group of regulating mentalactivities and smoothing the liver show significant reduction after treatment in comparison to before treatment (P<0.01), compared with traditional acupuncture therapy control, the difference is significant (P<0.05), but it is not significant compared with western medicine control (P>0.05). These results show the therapeutic effect of the acupuncture therapy of regulating mental activities and smoothing the liver is better than traditional acupuncture therapy and as same as western medicine. The acupuncture therapy of regulating mental activities and smoothing the liver can significantly improve the clinical symptoms of depression patients, and it is a simple and effective method without side effects.4. The acupuncture therapy of regulating mental activities and smoothing the liver can improve 5-hydroxytryptaminein blood which has reduced, reduce adrenocorticotrophic hormone and cortisol which have increased and restore abnormal immunity. There is significant difference in 5-hydroxytryptamine, cortisol and interleukin one beat between before and after treatment (P<0.01) and the difference is significant between the group of regulating mental activities and smoothing the liver and western medicine control (P<0.05). These results show the acupuncture therapy of regulating mental activities and smoothing the liver can regulate the functions of neurotransmitter and Neuroendocrine-immunoregulatory network, and has significant advantages in comparison to traditional acupuncture therapy and western medicine。ConclusionThe acupuncture therapy of regulating mental activities and smoothing the liver is based on the pathogenesis of depression, which is the mental a... |
