OBJECTIVES:1.To compare the effect of fluoride varnishes with three fluoride concentrations on the acid resistance and surface microhardness of deciduous enamel;2.To observe and evaluate the clinical effect of using fluoride varnishes with three fluoride concentrations to prevent caries of deciduous teeth over a period of 1 year;3.To explore a effective and safety fluoride concentration of fluoride varnishes of caries prevention of deciduous.METHODS :1.The specimens of smooth surface of deciduous enamel were treated with fluoride varnishes with three fluoride concentrations, the amunt of calcium dissolved in the acidic solution was determined.2.compared the changes of the deciduous enamel surface hardness before and after recalcium, cariostatic test among the three groups treated with the three fluoride concentrations respectively.3.Clinical study,a total 420 preschool children aged 3 to 5 years old who living in a fluoride deficient area (0.1mg/L in the drinking water ) were randomly divided into four groups. The three test groups treated with fluoride varnishes of three fluoride concentrations were topical applied two times during the period of 1 year. There was no any measures for central group. RESULTS:A11 fluoride varnishes with three fluoride concentrations are effectivein the prevention of dental caries in children. The effect of fluoride varnish withfluoride conentration of 10000ppm on caries prevention precede that of the5000ppm and 2000ppm.CONCLUSIONS: Fluoride varnishes is effective in the prevention of dentalcaries in children. The high-concentration fluoride varnishes is more effecaciousin preventing dental caries hi a certain extent of fluoride concentration. Fluoridevarnishes is a effective means of caries-preventive of fluoride topicalapplication, which was simple operation, easy acceptance and well suited forcommunity - based caries prevention in children.
