The Role Of P-selectin In Implantation Metastasis Of Gastric Carcinoma Located In Milky Spots

Background Milky spots in the human greater omentum are highly vascularized accumulations of mononuclear cells comprising macrophage (68%),B-cells (10),T-cells (10),and mast cells within the stroma of the greater omentum and performed specific acculations of primarily macrophage within the stroma of the greater omentum.Milky spots may contribute to the peritoneal dissemination of cancer as sites of implantation.Some authors have reported that cancer cells infiltrate milky spots in the early stages of peritoneal carcinomatosis.Selectin consist of Lectin-like end and EGF -like structure.It can bind Ca2+ and certain polysaccharide,so it si also called lectin domain.P-selectin,one of selectin family,can mainly participate and hesion and binding of tumor cell and platelet.lt can induce the interaction of endothelial cell,platelet and tumor cell,and it is related to neoplasma metastasis. P-selectin,activated molecule and adhesive receptor of platelet or endothelial cell,plays an important role during the early inflammation,thrombosis and neoplasma metastasis et al. Its function is to induce the adhesiveness of EC and inflammatory cell,the adhesiveness of activated platelet ,monocyte and neutrophil. It is sure that Epitope Slex and Slex-Lex often expressed in cancer of alimentary tract such as cancer of colon. And one of the mechanism that macrophage recognizes tumor cell is through Lectin.Lectin can induce macrophage recognition and kill target cell,which called LDMC-Lectin Dependent Macrophage-induced Cytotoxicity.Methods In this experiment,fresh omenta were obtained after 25 cases of gastric carcinoma operation, then the expression of P-selectin was determined by immunohistochemistry method(LSAB)after macrophages were isolated znd collected.Results The results showed that 60% of all 25 cases were positive in P-selectin expression and the expression was positively correlated with TNM scales; thereis significant difference in statistics between cases of scale I and II and those of scaleIIIand IV.Conclusions In general, we confirm that P-selectin can expressed in macrophage and the expression was positively correlated with TNM scals.It can act as prognosis criterion of gastric carcinoma.
