PartⅠ Establishment Of Animal Model For ControllingDuration Of Status Convulsion【Objective】 To explore an effective method to seizure control at the time points scheduled for the animal model of status convulsion (SC) induced by lithium-pilocarpine, and enhance the survival rate of the rats. 【Methods】 Seizures were induced in twenty-five adult rats(ARs) with lithium and pilocarpine injected intraperitoneally. 30 min after SC onseted, they were divided into five groups, including a control group and four different anticonvulsants treatment groups, which were diazepam 10mg/kg+phenobarbital 100mg/kg (group I), diazepam 10mg/kg+ phenbarbital 100mg/kg+atropine 1mg/kg(group Ⅱ), chloral hydrate 400mg/kg (group Ⅲ), chloral hydrate 400mg/kg+ atropine 1mg/kg (group Ⅳ). The onset of the seizure control, the duration of SC, the death rate and the time point of death were selected as the indicators for comparision. 【Results】 (1) Seizures occurred in all the 25 experimental rats after lithium and pilocarpine injected. In the control group, without anticonvulsive treatment, the seizure persisted 20.0±2.6 hours, 4 of 5 rats were dead at 3.3±1.0 day. (2) Comparing with the control group, coadministration of diazepam and phenbarbital could interrupt or attenuate seizure activity at 20 min later approximately. But the rats had severe dyspnea and all died. (3) Chloral hydrat administered intraperitoneally could terminate the seizures at 5-30 min, but it had no apparent effect on the dyspnea. The rats were dead at 180±34.2min. (4) Coadministration of chloral hydrate and atropine could terminate the seizures at 4-24min and attenuate the dyspnea. All the rats survived. 【Conclusions】 SC induced by lithium and pilocarpine is responsive to chloral hydrate. Coadministration of chloral hydrate and atropine can terminate the seizure activity and enhance the survival rate of the laboratory animals.
