Objective 1. To investigate the expression of protein of nometastatic gene 23(nm23H1),vescular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and protein of nuclear factor kappa B ( NF-kBP65) in retinoblastoma, blepharal basal cell carcinoma , blepharal squamous cell carcinoma and meibomian gland carcinoma. 2. To explore the relationship between expressions of these proteins and biological behavior of these ocular malignancies. Methods SABC immunohistochemical method was used to detect the expressions of nm23Hl,VEGF and NF-kBP65 in 82 patients of intraocular and extraocular malignancies. Normal retinal and blepharal tissues were procured for negative control; PBS was adopted as blank control. Average optical density (OD) of positive cells were deteched. SPSS9.0 software was used to analyze the data. Results No positive expressions of nm23Hl and NF-kBP65 were found in normalgroup; whereas positive expressions were observed in retinoblastoma, blepharal basal cell carcinoma , blepharal squamous cell carcinoma and meibomian gland carcinoma. The difference of nm23Hl and NF-kBP65' s expressions between ocular malignancies and normal group are statistically significant (P<0.05).The difference of nm23Hl and NF-kBP65' s expressions between invasive and non-invasive optic nerve of retinoblastoma, between primary and recurrent blepharal basal cell carcinoma ,and between primary and recurrent blepharal squamous cell carcinoma are not statiscally significant(P>0. 05). The weak expressions of VEGF were observed in normal retinal and blepharal tissue; while strong expressions were found in ocularmalignancies. The difference of VEGF' s expressions between normal tissue and ocular malignancies, and between non-invasive and invasive optic nerve of retinoblastoma are statiscally significant (P<0.05).The difference of VEGF' s expressions between primary and recurrent blepharal basal cell carcinoma , or between primary and recurrent blepharal squamous cell carcinoma are not statistically significant (P>0.05). Furthermore, a tendency can be found that the expression of NF-kBP65 are correlated with the expression of VEGF and nm23Hl in defferent malignancies. Conclusion 1.nm23Hl,VEGF and NF-kBP65 were closely related to ocular malignanies. 2.VEGF may be assosiatited with the progression of the retinoblastoma. 3. NF~kBP65 is an oncoprotein in ocular tumors, and it may up-regulate the expressions of VEGF and nm23Hl.
